"The Necessity of Virtue" Adult RE Discussion Forums
An adult RE discussion forum program based on “The Necessity of Virtue” sermon series by the Rev. Dr. Galen Guengerich will begin on Sunday, January 29 after the coffee hour (12:15 p.m.) in the sanctuary. This session will focus on the virtue of courage and will be facilitated by Mary Alsager.
These sessions will be held monthly through June to coincide with the virtue theme for a particular month in worship. Upcoming virtue topics include compassion, justice, temperance, transcendence and hope. These facilitated forum sessions will allow more in-depth discussion of the sermon presentations on virtue – as well as exploration into how we demonstrate these virtues in our own lives and how we can help our children develop these virtues.
Watch the UUFCM online calendar and announcement inserts for upcoming discussion forum dates. Please join us for some – or all of these sessions.
Adult Religious Exploration: “Building Your Own Theology"
Ten weekly sessions examining perennial religious concerns common to virtually all human cultures. Given the intentional absence of an official UU creed, BYOT is an opportunity to begin to define your own ideas concerning faith, spirituality and ethics. We will read and discuss - this is not a lecture-style class - a one hundred page curriculum guide by Richard S. Gilbert (Rev. Nana's mentor). The group will meet on Sundays from 12:15-1:45 p.m. in the UU Center green room (adjacent to the sanctuary) from January 15th to March 18th. The cost of the book is $16. Please contact Jim Dealing, facilitator, at 772-0269 or j.dealing@cmich.edu, by December 10th to order the book.
