September 5: “Mirage on the Half Shell” – a sermon by the Rev. Jane Rzepka. “Mirage on the half shell? Not our summers. As Unitarian Universalists, we walk toward the summers and the rest of the year too. We walk toward life. We walk into the seasons and through them and we savor their reality. They form us and sustain us. And after Labor Day, such as it was, we begin again.”
September 12: "Waters of Our Life" – a sermon by the Rev. Dr. Nana’ Kratochvil. Our annual Ingathering Service is celebrated by sharing water from our experiences this summer. Please bring water that symbolizes a journey of the spirit, or a journey of geography. This is an Intergenerational Service, and we invite our children to remain with us. Nursery care only will be provided.
September 19: “What Limits Forgiveness ” – a sermon by the Rev. Lucinda Duncan. ““Forgiveness remains a hollow word until we decide, to use Archbishop Tutu’s words, “to come full circle.” Suddenly, after so much resistance, so much fear, so much anguish, so much pain, it occurs to us: there is no future without forgiveness.”
September 26: “Radical Hospitality” – a sermon by the Rev. Gretchen Woods. “It is up to the radical hospitality of religious community to help us hear both our inner selves and the sounds of the world, to find the resources that refill our wounded and empty souls, and to show us that we are not alone, so that we may truly begin anew the legacy of caring, the work of peace, the blessings of each and every one of us with respect, responsibility, and relish for the process.”
