- We need summer volunteers! During the summer months, the RE curriculum does not run like it does during the school year. Instead, our youth tend to a vegetable garden and help provide fresh food for the Isabella Soup kitchen. Volunteers will not be expected to create activities/provide stories (although they are more than welcome to!), they will be prepared ahead of time. If you wish to sign up email Anna at firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up during coffee hour after service.
- As you are planning your own summer gardens, please consider donating any spare vegetable plants to our youth for our garden. If you have any plants you'd like to donate please contact Anna at
email@example.com or at 517-930-6927 to let her know what you have and/or schedule a time for her to pick them up.
- We are revamping our nursery! Please contact Anna if you have any new or gently used items you would like to donate.
Volunteers are needed for our Religious Education program for our children for this summer. We need one adult for each Sunday this summer (June through August). Each Sunday you will be provided with the opening ritual, story or brief lesson, and then the children will work on a related craft or work in the garden we are planting on the east side of the building. No preparation is needed; everything will be written out and provided for you to simply arrive at 10:00 on Sunday morning to look over the plan. As well, you will have a teen helper. Norma Bailey is coordinating this effort, so please contact her (989-560-3952 or firstname.lastname@example.org) or see her at church on Sunday to sign up.
Our RE program year will kick off the Sunday after our Ingathering Ceremony. Ingathering will be on September 13th and it is a multigenerational service. We encourage you to bring youth to experience this service. The Kickoff event will be on Sunday, September 20th, immediately following service. Regular RE classes will resume this Sunday. After service we will have a picnic potluck. Hotdogs will be provided, please bring a picnic side to share. We will discuss each of the programs in greater detail and answer all your and your youth's questions about our exciting upcoming programs. We hope you will join us for this opportunity to reconnect and tell our stories from the past summer as we build toward the future. Please contact Roze Bentley (989) 400-7674 with any questions.
September is right around the corner, and as well as back-to-school, our youth will be resuming religious education curriculum. We are very excited to be offering diversity and social justice as our theme for this year's programs. We need teachers! All you need to be a successful RE volunteer to be caring and enthusiastic. We have great curriculum prepared, ready to be placed in helping hands. Each volunteer will be teaching with a partner and time commitments are somewhat flexible. If you have any availability we would love to have your help energizing our youth with a UU's committment to social justice. Please contact the DRE, Roze Finn with questions at (989) 400-7674 or email@example.com.
Summer is nearing, which means our RE year is winding down. Our kids would love for you to sign up to hang out with them on a Sunday or two this summer. The curriculum is FUN and whatever that means to you! Take them for a walk, to a park, play games, share passions, etc. This is a great time to get to know our young congregants and for them to get to know you! Contact Bill Tinsley to sign up (firstname.lastname@example.org or 989-488-8505).
