While Governor Whitmer has declared a moratorium on water shutoffs in Detroit and ordered the City to restore water for those residents. unfortunately, the City is moving very slowly. As of March 18, the City has restored water to only 700 households compared to an estimated 9,500 households without water, water so needed to maintain healthy living.

MUUSJN has two part time job opportunities: a Northern Michigan Justice Organizer ($600/month) and a LGBTQ Justice Organizer ($600/month), and the two positions could be combined. This Sunday a special plate collection will be taken to support the work of MUUSJN, the Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network. MUUSJN is a very active state-wide network of Unitarian Universalists and allies who work together for progressive change. Its mission is to foster the worth and dignity of people by promoting social justice and community service. The MUUSJN Environmental Task Force is looking for members from various UU congregations to complete an environmental survey, thus helping them focus on goals and set the direction for their work this church year. Please complete the survey by Monday, October 15.
