This Sunday we perform our yearly ritual of honoring the ancestors. In keeping with the various traditions of All Souls Day, Samhain, and Día de Muertos, we take this day to remember those who have died and to welcome them as living spirits. What do we have to learn from the ancestors? How can we keep alive their memory and honor them?

In Unitarian Universalism we encompass many beliefs about the nature of – and the existence of – the divine. Does God exist? Where and what is God? One vision of the divine, blending Religious Naturalism and Taoism, is that God is a river. Let’s see how this idea challenges or reinforces your own notion of mystery and of ultimate reality.

Guest at Your Table is a program of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee to partner with human rights organizations domestically and abroad. This year Guest at Your Table supports an LGBTQ+ asylum house in Pennsylvania; a human rights organization in Central America; a commune for Haitian refugees in the Dominican Republic; and a river defender in Honduras. In our worship service we celebrate the good work being done; and we recognize that together we create greater justice and greater joy.
