Experiencing beauty brings us into the present moment with a sense of belonging, safety, and peace. We need this in times of trauma and crisis. In public, artists create beauty that puts world events into perspective and calls us forward. Privately, each of us can use art to process the difficult things that we go through.
We feel a unique sense of peace in a cultivated space such as a garden. The garden represents the blending of wild natural space and the safety of bounded space. What we find beautiful in the garden, including the harmony of colors, may be tied to an instinctive recognition of what is useful to our survival.
Worship Leader and sermon: Jessica Jernigan
Rev. Drew Frantz with Jakobe Neal, Director of Religious Education
“Where do you find beauty in nature? It might be a thing, a place, or the memory of a certain event in your life. All ages are welcome to participate in this multigenerational worship service exploring beauty and nature, on the first day of May as the world is greening.”
Services are led by
Rev. Andrew Frantz unless otherwise indicated.
