TED Talk: Sharon Brous
At a moment when the world seems to be spinning out of control, religion might feel irrelevant – or like part of the problem. But Rabbi Sharon Brous believes we can reinvent religion to meet the needs of modern life. In this impassioned talk, Brous shares four principles of a revitalized religious practice and offers faith of all kinds as a hopeful counter-narrative to the numbing realities of violence, extremism and pessimism.
Worship Leader: Laura McBride
TED Talk: Brene Brown
The sermon message will be a TED Talk video by this well-known woman who is a social worker, qualitative researcher, and storyteller. Join us as we listen to her share her stories, research, and insights about humanity and her own journey.
“The question that children ask on long car rides—are we there yet?—has a different meaning for us as a society emerging from the pandemic. Can we mingle with strangers yet? Can we travel yet? Can we put away our masks yet? As a spiritual question, this moment calls us to re-think boundaries and trust, and our sense of self and community.”
This week we welcome the UU Fellowship of Midland to our service!
On Independence Day, we celebrate the United States of America and reflect on our country’s values. These values are reflected in America’s religious institutions. The recent votes taken by Catholic Bishops at their national conference, and by Unitarian Universalists at our General Assembly last week, offer two snapshots.
Services are led by
Rev. Andrew Frantz unless otherwise indicated.
