Harvest Feast - This Sunday!

11/20/2022

Hello Harvest Feasters! We have RSVP’s for about 55 people for this Sunday's meal.

If you are bringing hot food, please bring it hot, and bring the cold food cold. You can bring your dishes to the annex before service, or take them into the fellowship hall before service for helpers to bring over. Please label the name of your dish –  it will be most appreciated. If you have a dessert or bread that needs to be sliced or cut, it is helpful if you can have that done for us.

If you’re signed up to help with set up, we’ll be doing most of that on Saturday from 3-6pm. If you can make it at that time that would be great. If you can’t make it on Saturday please be at the library annex at 9am Sunday morning. Thank you everyone!

Questions? Concerns? Suggestions? Please call or text Jen Prout at 989-400-3130.

The Return of the Harvest Feast!

11/2/2022

It’s back!
It will be held in the Library Annex on November 20 following the church service. We will be counting on your help for things like setting up, cleaning up, “food runners,” and, of course, dishes to pass (yum)! Our trusty old sign-up sheets will be in the fellowship hall beginning this Sunday with multiple opportunities and ways you can assist. We will need an approximate number of people that plan to attend in order to determine the quantity of food to prepare. Please RSVP Jen Prout (call or text) at 989-400-3130. We’re thankful for you all.

Harvest Feast Word Cloud

11/25/2020

During our multigenerational Harvest Feast service last Sunday, everyone was asked to type what they are thankful for into the chat box. From those words of gratitude came this lovely Word Cloud! The larger the words, the more often they were mentioned in the chat. Thank you to everyone who participated and to Terrie Robbie for this wonderful idea!

Harvest Feast - Sunday, November 22

11/18/2020

Breaking Bread Virtually
Come break bread to celebrate the Harvest Feast and also help out college students in need. While we can’t be together in person for Harvest Feast this year, we can still keep our tradition alive with a little creativity. To that end, a few of us will be baking harvest muffins to provide to the congregation, allowing us to break bread (or muffins) together at the end of the service on Sunday, November 22. Muffins will be available to pick up Friday, November 20, from 3-6pm, and Saturday, November 21, from 10am-2pm. If these times don't work for you, or if you don’t have transportation, muffin delivery is available. If you require delivery, please contact Kris Los at 989-429-0425. Gluten-free muffins and vegan muffins are available. Please contact Annette Pratt at 989-400-0173 if you are interested in this category of muffin. We are also donating non-perishable goods or cash to the Central Michigan University Student Food Pantry. The fall semester ends before Thanksgiving, but foreign students and other students who will be staying in town could use our assistance. Please drop off donations when you pick up your muffins. Donations for the Student Food Pantry should be in the form of non-perishable goods, cash, or gift cards for Meijer or Walmart. Please note that any food that is dropped off must be labeled and tagged (from a store). Canned goods may be easiest. We would like to give the students something they could use for a Thanksgiving meal, so powdered mashed potatoes, canned yams, canned cranberries, etc., will be most useful.

Harvest Feast 2019

11/25/2019

Our annual Thanksgiving “Harvest Feast” celebration was a wonderful highlight of the year. We served about 100 people...and could have served even more as we had an abundance of food. We want to thank all those who provided delicious dishes: salads, fruits, casseroles, hot vegetables, relishes, vegetarian and vegan dishes, turkey, ham, gravy, dressing, bread, rolls…and delightful desserts!

Another thank you to all the volunteers who set up on Saturday, came early on Sunday to organize the dishes and stayed after the feast to clean up. Kudos also to our youth – Abi Bailey who served as Master of Ceremonies and the youth who shared jokes and short readings with us at the Feast. We also appreciate that our youth, who had an overnight at the church on Saturday, made stone soup and butter, led by our RE Director Kendra Peffers and supported by Lea Sobrilsky, Seally Busch, Drew Frantz, Norma Bailey, Andrea Devenney, and Mel Bailey. Last, but not least, a tremendous thank you to Jen Prout, Kris Los and Brigitte Bechtold who organized all the food, did all the decorations and oversaw the entire operation!!!

It is at times like this that we experience the abundance of talent and generosity in our community. The friendship found in this community of faith gives special meaning to Thanksgiving.
