Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom and in person this Sunday, April 19, to worship with a message from Rev. Drew on "Earth Day." The Zoom call starts at 10:00am for social time, and the service starts at 10:30am.

Minister’s Column: “Pope Leo”

“War is always a defeat for humanity.”

-Pope John Paul II

This week, our U.S. president is criticizing the current Pope, and then posting an image of himself as Jesus Christ. No person of faith—or of moral character--should be silent about this. The context is that Pope Leo XIV has expressed the Catholic values of peace and compassion, speaking out against the war in Iran and the ICE deportations. This caused President Trump to post a lengthy attack against the Pope….and then, inexplicably, an image of himself as Jesus healing the sick.

Ironically, the Iranian president—our “enemy” in this war—responded with this post:

To His Holiness Pope Leo XIV: I condemn the insult to Your Excellency on behalf of the great nation of Iran, and declare that the desecration of Jesus, the prophet of peace and brotherhood, is not acceptable to any free person. I wish you glory by Allah.

Social Justice Special Plate Collection - Sunday, April 19

This Sunday, a collection will be taken to support the Isabella County Soup Kitchen which provides free meals in a warm and safe environment, needed by so many of our community neighbors. You can put a donation into the passed plate on Sunday, donate online to the Social Justice Special Plate Collections Fund at our website, or checks can be sent to our treasurer made out to UUFCM with Soup Kitchen in the memo.

Are You Digitally Secure? - This Sunday!

The Adult RE team is pleased to announce its final presentation of the 2025-2026 church calendar year! Aaron Jones will present a 1-hour entry-level overview of basic digital security, including best practices for passwords, online communication, and identifying and protecting against phishing attempts. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, April 19th, after coffee hour.

Sleepy Time Yoga - Sunday, April 19 at 6:30pm

Join Kelly Lawson for an evening of Yoga Nidra 6:30-7:30 pm in the UU sanctuary. Bring a yoga mat, blankets, pillows, or anything to get cozy. The evening is donation-based, and all donations will go to the homeless shelter (ICRH).

The evening will begin with gentle movement before finding rest in Savasana (final resting pose) for a guided meditation.

Game Night - Monday, April 20 at 7:00pm

We meet on 3rd Mondays from 7-9pm in the UUFCM social hall and have fun with a variety of games decided by consensus. It is a great opportunity to learn new games and meet people with similar interests!

The Crafty U’s - Tuesday, April 21 at 10:30am

Group meets in our fellowship hall on the third Tuesday of the month at 10:30am. It is an informal, drop-in group for anyone working on craft projects, especially fabric arts.

Don't Forget to Turn In Your Pledge Forms!

If you are reading this and haven’t turned in your pledge materials, please do! The stewardship campaign officially ends on April 17. You can return your pledge form to the church by mail or in-person or you can complete the online pledge form linked HERE.

After April 17, members of the stewardship team will begin reaching out to people we haven’t heard from. Nobody likes this part of the work, so please return your pledge materials or let us know you don’t intend to pledge so we don’t have to bother you.

Fellowship Clean-Up

Now that spring is definitely here, we are planning a clean-up of the outside of our building! We’ll pick up sticks, rake, weed, and clean, so please bring rakes, gloves, weeding tools, and clippers; we’ll provide the other materials and snacks! Please text, call, or email any one of the Building Team members – Norma Bailey, Bob Busch, Daniel Davis, Kirsten King and Kurt Roeder, and let us know you’re coming to help beautify our church grounds!

Documentary Film: “Did You Guys Eat? at Commission on Aging

Gender Affirming Care Drive

The Mt. Pleasant Pride Center, supported by a grant from the American Humanist Association that Gracee Day received, is asking for donations for a gender affirming care drive. The Center is collecting clothing (particularly business and formal wear as well as ties and makeup bags); unused/unopened makeup/makeup brushes; hair-styling supplies (curling irons, hair dryers, flat irons, rollers, etc.); new to lightly used men’s shoes in smaller sizes; new to lightly used women’s shoes in wide sizes; tote bags; and binders and bras. Donations can be placed in the labeled box in the Fellowship Hall.

Indivisible Meetings & Protests Continue!

Indivisible Central Michigan plans on continuing their weekly Saturday protests at the usual location (corner of Mission and Broadway). The time is 11:00-1:00. In case of extreme weather, a cancellation email will be sent out by 10:00. Email indivisiblemp@gmail.com to get on the email list.

Minister’s Column: “Peace Prayer”

Life in America today has the strange feeling that we are going about our regular daily lives --work, school, buying groceries--while we are at war in Iran. Today (Tuesday April 7) has been especially surreal because the news was all about President Trump’s blasphemous Easter morning post threatening to destroy the civilian infrastructure of Iran, only to back down at the 11th hour and agree, seemingly, to a ceasefire.

The sickening anti-religious element of Trump’s post bothers me especially as a person of faith. He threatened a Muslim nation with military annihilation, ending the message with a sarcastic Muslim prayer. This is disgusting and immoral, and people of faith everywhere should be appalled.

In contrast to the war-mongering behavior of my government, I am buoyed with hope over two things I saw this past week. First, while driving through Chicago, I saw a highway billboard that read:

The Readers Theater group is meeting on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Roles have already been cast for this play. 2026-2027 UUFCM Board of Trustees Candidates & Proposed Bylaws Change

Our fellowship’s Bylaws outline the process for selecting the slate of candidates for next year’s Board. If you’re unfamiliar with the nominating procedures, please refer to Articles 9.2, 9.2.1, and 9.2.2 in the current UUFCM Bylaws.

This year’s Nominating Committee consists of Guy Newland (chair), Jennifer Davis, and Joyce Henricks. The committee is pleased to present the following slate of candidates for the open Board positions:

• President-Elect: Laura McBride

• Treasurer: David Allan

• Trustee At Large (Two-Year Term): Katie Zapoluch

• Trustee At Large (One-Year Term): Kurt Roeder

We sincerely thank these individuals for their willingness to serve and encourage all members to consider future opportunities to join the Board.

Alternative Nominating Procedure
If you or another member would like to add a nominee for any of these positions, you may do so through the Alternative Nominating Procedure (see Bylaws section 9.2.1). To submit a nomination, send a petition signed (electronically or handwritten) by three members supporting the nominee to Guy Newland (newla1gm@cmich.edu) and cc President Norma Bailey (baile1nj@cmich.edu) no later than Sunday, April 12. Please ensure the nominee has given their consent before submission.

Please note: All elected candidates will begin their terms on July 1 and serve through June 30 of the appropriate term length, as outlined in the Bylaws. Additionally, nominations from the floor will not be accepted at the annual meeting. If you wish to nominate someone not listed above, please follow the Alternative Nominating Procedure.

Bylaws Amendment
In addition to Board elections, we will discuss a proposed Bylaws change at the annual meeting. Please review the proposed change before the meeting.

This year’s annual meeting will be held after service on Sunday, May 17. Elections for Board officers and the Bylaws amendment will take place electronically in the days following the annual meeting.

I have begun reading “The Sacred Awakening: Reclaiming Christ Consciousness by Sami Awad. Sami is a Palestinian activist who I came to know in Bethlehem. Sami is “committed to nonviolence, healing and transformation….and living life through radical love.” He comes from a prominent Christian family, and created quite a stir when he stepped away from Christianity, and found Jesus outside of organized religion. He says, "When I stepped away from Christianity, it was not to abandon Jesus but to seek him beyond the institutional filters placed over his life and message. I found a figure far more disruptive, radical, and liberating than anything the Church had ever presented."

In “The Sacred Awakening” Sami explores the Beatitudes, the Sermon on the Mount, as a framework for transformation, not of belief or dogma, but a way of embodying radical love, transforming not only ourselves, but the world. I am super excited about this book, and would love to find several others who would like to explore it together. Identifying as a “Christian” is not necessary to exploring the themes and ideas in the book. Meetings would need to be at my home due to my caregiving responsibilities. Days and times could be determined together if there is interest. The book is available on Amazon and Reverend Drew has ordered several copies.

"What makes life worth living? Is it family? Friends? A job or career? Is it a sense of accomplishment or fulfillment—a sense that it means something, has value?? Or is it simply feeling happy? We’ll be discussing these questions on Sunday, but, as Kurt Vonnegut says, “Plato claims that the unexamined life is not worth living. But what if the examined life turns out to be a clunker as well?” So, don’t expect profound answers. Sunday’s discussion is just a start!"

Rev. Drew on Spring Break

Our minister Drew will be out of town for the next two Sundays, March 29 and April 5. There will be no minister's column during that week. Although not available for regular Fellowship business, Rev. Drew can be contacted by cell phone with anything urgent. He will be back in the office April 7 and back leading worship on April 12.

Infant Pantry Sunday, April 5

Donations for the Infant Pantry are collected on the first Sunday of each month. You can donate online to the Monthly Donations for Infant Pantry on our website, or checks can be sent to our treasurer made out to UUFCM with Infant Pantry in the memo.

Care Request Form for UUFCM Community

The UUFCM Caring Team supports members and friends of the congregation in practical ways such as offering rides to medical appointments, meals for those temporarily unable to cook for themselves, and help with moving. Our ability to help, of course, is limited to the capacity of our volunteers. To facilitate delivery of these helping services, you are invited to fill out this online form on behalf of yourself or others if you want to request such assistance. Cynthia Damer coordinates this effort; others members of the Caring Team are Phoenix Thompson, Lou Ann Ashley, Laura McBride, Victoria Sladek, and Rev. Drew Frantz. Click HERE.

Stewardship Campaign 2026

Our stewardship campaign began with our Spring into Joy…Together! karaoke party on Saturday, March 21! Twenty-four pledges have already been turned in, so we have gotten off to a great start!

We mailed the other stewardship packets on Monday, March 23, so you should have received yours by now with explanations and directions about how to make your pledge as well as explain our interesting incentives - incentives to turn in your pledge form early, increase your pledge and/or pledge for the first time! There is also a new volunteer form to let us know ways in which you would like to share your time and talents.

Please be sure to read the materials right away and take action. If you have questions, contact anyone on the Stewardship Committee - Mary Alsager, Norma Bailey, Drew Frantz, Kelly Lawson, Darlene Ritchie, Don Socha and Victoria Sladek.

Minister’s Column: “Loyal to Spring”

This is the first week of spring. Signs of spring on the calendar include spring break – coming up for school children here, recently passed for college students – and Easter, Ramadan, and Passover. We also see signs of spring in the natural world: some warmer days; the very earliest of spring flowers; the return of birdsong; and the longer daylight.

Which leads me to reflect on the spiritual significance of spring. In last Sunday’s worship service we sang “Lo, the Earth Awakes Again,” which includes the lyric How our spirits soar and sing! How our hearts leap with the spring! This certainly reflects my own joy in the season. For me the Michigan winter is challengingly long, cold and dark. The same hymn also includes this line: Now the dark cold days are o’er; Spring and gladness are before. In my spirit, I do lean into the hopeful thought that the beauty of May and the long days of the summer are before us. More...

Stewardship Campaign 2026

Our stewardship campaign began with our Spring into Joy…Together! karaoke party on Saturday, March 21! Thirteen pledges have already been turned in, so we have gotten off to a great start!

We mailed the other stewardship packets on Monday, March 23, so you should have received yours by now with explanations and directions about how to make your pledge as well as explain our interesting incentives - incentives to turn in your pledge form early, increase your pledge and/or pledge for the first time! There is also a new volunteer form to let us know ways in which you would like to share your time and talents.

Please be sure to read the materials right away and take action. If you have questions, contact anyone on the Stewardship Committee - Mary Alsager, Norma Bailey, Drew Frantz, Kelly Lawson, Darlene Ritchie, Don Socha and Victoria Sladek.

UUFCM Banner a Great Success!

Our paint and pizza party to paint our UUFCM banner to hang in downtown Mt. Pleasant was a great success! We painted, finishing our masterpiece in record time and then shared pizza and conversation! Great thanks to Lou Ann Ashley for designing our banner, to Darlene Ritchie for leading the paint party, and to everyone who painted!

Our Kick-off to This Year’s Stewardship Drive Also a Great Success!

On Saturday, March 21, we gathered to kick off our stewardship drive titled “Guided by Joy.” Led by our karaoke DJ Guy Newland, we sang, laughed and cheered our way through our chosen songs during our “Spring into Joy…Together!” karaoke party. After receiving our stewardship packets and hearing an explanation of the contents, we moved to the Fellowship Hall for sweet and savory snacks and good conversation. We think this is good for a repeat next year!!!

There was an important announcement regarding implementation of the Policy Regarding Safer Inclusion of Potential Sex Offenders on Sunday, March 15 during the Fellowship Life meeting. If you weren’t in attendance at that service, please feel free to contact Rev. Minister’s Column: “War Comes Home to Michigan”

I was dismayed by the violent attack on a Jewish synagogue and preschool last week in West Bloomfield. The attacker drove his vehicle into the building. Security engaged him in a gunfight that left the attacker dead while the guards sustained some injuries. The building then caught fire. All 140 young children escaped unharmed, along with their teachers. A few days later, journalists revealed that the attacker was Lebanese, and that his two brothers were recently killed in an Israeli airstrike on Lebanon.

This information doesn’t justify the violent attack on a house of worship and school for little children—but it does explain it. For anyone who commits a mass shooting or similar violence, the cause is likely to include some mix of emotional anguish, mental illness, and hatred towards a certain group of people. And acts of violence beget further violence. Bombs and missiles in Lebanon lead to fire and gunshots in Michigan. In turn, the Israeli military who carried out the airstrikes may have been retaliating for past violence done by the Lebanese, which was part of a pattern of warfare in the middle east. And the attack on the synagogue in West Bloomfield may move the victims (and the public at large) to hate the attacker and his people.

Once again, UUFCM will paint and have a banner hung in the Mt. Pleasant downtown area this year. Please join us in a paint and pizza party on Saturday, March 21, at 11:00 am in the Fellowship Hall to paint our banner. Children and adults are welcome, but do wear paint clothes! Come to our Karaoke Party This Saturday!

Our stewardship campaign with the theme of “Guided by Joy” kicks off this Saturday, March 21, 7-9 pm with a “Springing into Joy…Together!” karaoke party!! We’ll sing karaoke led by DJ Guy Newland, learn about the stewardship drive, receive stewardship packets and then head down to the Fellowship Hall for sweet and savory snacks. We hope you’ll join us for an evening of fellowship and fun!

CUUPs Ostara Ritual - Sunday, March 22

Ostara, or the Spring Equinox (falling between March 19–22 in the Northern Hemisphere), is a Pagan holiday celebrating the arrival of spring, renewal, and the balance of light and dark. We will hold the ritual promptly at 6pm.

Following the theme for March of “Paying Attention,” I extend an invitation to engage with the questions below—as a spiritual practice rather than as an intellectual exercise. You’re invited to find a question that speaks to you and to sit with it regularly over a period of time. It’s about living with the question, rather than coming up with an answer. This different way of engaging with questions takes some getting used to.

In that spirit, I invite you to read through these questions about atention--and if one grabs you, to think about it regularly. I’d love to hear what you come up with. Of course, the most fruitful question about attention may be one that is not listed here, but one that you come up with for yourself.

The Newest Member of Our Community!

welcome Rain Peters

Parents Annie and Rob are delighted to share the news that Rain Storm Connie Lynn Peters was born February 26 at Midland Hospital. She weighed a whopping 9lb 12oz and was 20.5" long! Her parents say, "We are over the moon in love with her," and add that "Rowan is an awesome big brother! He loves his little sister and tries to help whenever he can."

The whole UUFCM community joins in this blessing for baby Rain: May you know love every day of your life. May you grow strong and gentle. May peace and joy surround you. Blessed be.

Special Plate Collection this Sunday – R.I.S.E. (Women’s Aid Service)

The special social justice collection on March 15 is for R.I.S.E. (Women's Aid Service, an agency serving domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in Isabella, Gratiot, and Clare counties). You can donate in the plate collection, online to the Social Justice Fund at our website or checks can be sent to our treasurer made out to UUFCM with “R.I.S.E.” indicated in the memo line.

Sleepy Time Yoga + Sound Bath by Victoria - Sunday, March 15

Join Kelly Lawson and Victoria Sladek for an evening of Yoga Nidra and Sound Bath 6:30-7:30 pm in the UU sanctuary. Bring a yoga mat, blankets, pillows, or anything to get cozy. The evening is donation-based, and all donations will go to the homeless shelter (ICRH).

The evening will begin with gentle movement before finding rest in Savasana (final resting pose) for a guided meditation. During the meditation, relax deeper with Victoria’s singing bowls!

The Crafty U’s - Tuesday, March 17 at 10:30am

Group meets in our fellowship hall on the third Tuesday of the month at 10:30am. It is an informal, drop-in group for anyone working on craft projects, especially fabric arts.

We certainly hope you can attend the party, but if not, our stewardship packets will be mailed to everyone on March 23 with explanations and directions about how to make your pledge as well as explain the incentives for getting in your pledge card and volunteer form quickly. Minister’s Column: “Righteous Anger”

“I don’t know how to preach the day after bombs fall.
I don’t know how to preach when children die
and when neighbors are pulled from cars
and when trans citizens wake up to find their identities legally erased.
But I do know this:
If you are not angry about those things, something holy in you has gone numb.”

I found these words on the Facebook page of the United Church of Christ in Northfield, Minnesota. Their post goes on to differentiate between rage and righteous anger: “Rage destroys for the sake of destruction. Righteous anger disrupts in order to restore.” They point to the well-known example of Jesus throwing over the tables of the money-changers in the temple. This is legitimate anger leading to an appropriate action. But Jesus doesn’t stay there smashing tables—he moves on after making his point and doing what he needs to do. Similarly, we must allow our anger to spur us into action, but we shouldn’t wallow in that anger.

ICRH Fundraiser – Party for a Purpose

Every spring, the Isabella County Restoration House (ICRH – homeless shelter) holds a Party for a Purpose, ICRH’s one big fundraiser for the year. It consists of a buffet soup/salad/dessert dinner, silent auction, cash bar and a paddle auction, and a good number of us have attended each year. Community Justice Party a Great Success!

Our fifth biannual Community Justice Party was the best yet! Approximately 50 people attended, a mixture of our UUFCM folks and people from Indivisible Central Michigan. The program was enjoyable, the Guess the Activist competition fierce, and with 17 cakes and pies donated, the Justice Desserts Walk was the icing on the cake! As well, the donations totaled $448 which will be delivered to Indivisible Central Michigan at their next meeting on Thursday, February 26!!!

Thanks for all their hard work to the Social Justice Coordinating Team members (Lou Ann Ashley, Norma Bailey, Sierra Burke, Joyce Henricks, Kelly Lawson, Gisela Moffit, Jim Moreno, and Katie Zapoluch), to Jen Prout for an excellent social justice play list, and to Rev. Drew for being our DJ throughout the evening!

Minister’s Column: “Alysa Liu”

I enjoyed watching the winter Olympics the past two weeks. This year I watched more curling than I ever have in my life, understanding the rules and strategy for the first time. But it was the figure skating that really grabbed me—especially the moving story of Alysa Liu.

USA figure skater Alysa Liu was the youngest ever national champion in 2019, when she was just 13 years old. Three years later, however, shortly after the 2022 Olympics, she announced her retirement from skating. She decided that she had had enough of the pressure and the grind of international competition—in a sport where you train endless hours year-round for a competition that lasts a few minutes. She wanted to live her own life, to have friends and do normal things. And then, a few years later, she returned to skating—but this time it was on her own terms. As her coach said, the younger version of Alysa did what everyone else said to do (and was very good at it), while the post-retirement Alysa did things her way. More...

UUFCM is in charge of providing meals and volunteers for ICRH (the homeless shelter) the week of Sunday, March 8 through Saturday, March 14. We’ll need lots of people to participate, bringing food and/or volunteering mornings and evenings, so please bring your calendars to church on Sunday to sign up for your part in this major project UUFCM has committed to. If you are not able to be in church on Sunday, please contact Norma Bailey (baile1nj@cmich.edu or 989-560-3952) who will find a spot for you.

When we decide to cancel or postpone a UUFCM event due to weather--as we did due to last Sunday's snowstorm--we use a cell phone app called Remind to make these announcements. In the case of Sunday morning worship, we make our decision by 8:30 am.

Downloading the Remind app to your phone and signing up just takes a few minutes. Stay informed and prepared this winter! View our full cancellation policy along with instructions for signing up on the Remind app here.

Although the Remind app is the best way to stay informed, we also try to send an email and post an announcement on the website and social media.

Worship Matters

"Today we explore the use of protest songs–popular songs played on the radio and songs sung by marchers in the streets. From the civil rights movement to the “ICE Out” protest in Minneapolis, this music articulates the values and urgency of the movement while giving people a sense of hope and belonging. Minister’s Column: “Rev. Jesse Jackson”

Today Rev. Jesse Jackson died. A human rights advocate and political figure, he bridged the civil rights era of Martin Luther King and the modern era of Barack Obama. Jesse Jackson was present when Martin Luther King was killed, and went on television the following day wearing clothing stained by his blood. In the years and decades that followed, Jackson did a lot to advance civil rights for Black Americans. A serious candidate for president in 1984 and 1988, Jackson won as much as 29% of the Democratic primary vote. His presence as a political leader and his advocacy for voting rights contributed to the eventual election of our first Black president. More...

Community Justice Party THIS SATURDAY!

Be sure to attend our fifth bi-annual Community Justice Party this Saturday, February 21, 7-9 pm. There will be a program in the sanctuary of music, skits, poetry, and a “Guess the Activist” contest highlighting several social justice issues, and then we will meet in the Fellowship Hall for light refreshments and a rousing Justice Desserts Walk! $5 suggested donation with donations going to Indivisible Central Michigan. Bring family and friends!

Welcome to UU Orientation - THIS Sunday, February 22

We meet both in person in the fellowship hall and via Zoom.

This orientation is geared to newcomers, visitors, and those seeking to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and this UU fellowship. It is offered every month both in person in the fellowship hall and via Zoom, typically on the last Sunday at 12:00 pm. Sessions run approximately an hour and a half.

Parents’ Night Out a Success!

On Saturday, February 14, the Youth RE Team provided a Parents’ Night Out for the parents of our children. Four children were dropped off from 4-8 pm so that parents could have the afternoon/evening free. Norma Bailey and Elowen Kourteva guided Charles Emerick, Felix Jones, Gaius McGregor and Rowan Peters in games, crafts, cookie decorating, a pizza dinner and an acrobatic game of Twister! Everyone, parents and children alike, said, “Let’s do it again sometime!”

The Youth RE Team used the bottle and can fund to provide the event this year. If you would like to contribute to this fund, you can drop off bottles and cans in the receptacles in the kitchen any time, and we will recycle them for you.

Minister’s Column: “Bad Bunny Halftime Show”

I watched the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday featuring Bad Bunny, and I found it authentic, cinematic, and meaningful. I also think it is a milestone in American culture.

A Puerto Rican artist, Bad Bunny is one of the most successful musicians in the world. Because he is a Spanish-language rapper, I had not heard of him and his music until now…that is, until the controversy. The political and cultural right in the U.S. decried the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny for this show, one of the most watched events in our culture. They said it was “un-American” to have someone singing in Spanish at the Super Bowl, and tried to promote an alternative show with MAGA-friendly artists. That effort failed spectacularly with an embarrassingly low viewership.

In today’s ultra-divided America, I have noticed that people on the left and the right can see the exact same thing and come away with different conclusions. In the case of the Bad Bunny show, the reactions that people have seems to reflect the cultural and political divide. More...

Special Plate Collection This Sunday February 15 – MUUSJN

On Sunday, February 16, a special plate collection will be taken to support the work of MUUSJN, the Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network. MUUSJN is a very active state-wide network of the 24 Unitarian Universalist congregations and allies in Michigan who work together to prevent harm, protect rights and safeguard our democracy. Its mission is to foster the worth and dignity of people by promoting social justice and community service. When you donate, you spread your small donation well beyond our UUFCM walls. You can donate online to the Social Justice Special Plate Collections Fund at our website or checks can be sent to our treasurer made out to UUFCM with MUUSJN in the memo.

ICE Out for Love: Community Safety & Rapid Response Training

Saturday Feb. 14, 1:00-300 - VIRTUALLY AT UUFCM SANCTUARY

Please join us for this training that is sponsored by the UU Fellowship of Midland. The details are below.

If you want to join us in the UUFCM sanctuary, please let Drew or Norma know that you are coming. If you wish to attend on your own, please use the link below to register.

UU Fellowship of Midland, in partnership with Saginaw Bay Rapid Response, is hosting ICE Out for Love, a Community Safety & Rapid Response Training on Saturday, February 14, from 1:00–3:00 PM. This multiplatform event will be offered both in person and virtually, making it accessible to a wide range of participants.

This training is designed to help community members respond with care, preparedness, and solidarity during a time of rapid change. Participants will learn how to identify ICE activity, what information to safely share with tip lines, how to recognize danger spots, and how to use the SALUTE framework for observation and reporting. The training will also cover ongoing updates, mutual aid strategies, and ways to support families with practical needs such as transportation, childcare, and other forms of assistance.

Equally important, the session will emphasize self-care and burnout prevention, recognizing that sustained community care requires tending to ourselves as well as one another.

February 14th - Indivisible Central Michigan (ICM) will conduct a drive-by food drive Saturday in Mt. Pleasant from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to restock local food pantries, helping to fight hunger in our community. The collection takes place on ICM’s protest line on Mission and Broadway streets as part of the group’s Love Your Community rally.

We are proud to host our 2nd annual Pal-entine's Day social!!! This Saturday February 14th. With a double feature bake sale and celebration! Come buy some baked goods from 1pm-4pm, and come back for our party from 5pm-8pm! Location: 201 S University Ave Suite 106
