Ministry

Andrew (Drew) Frantz, UUFCM Minister

I was born and raised in eastern Massachusetts; then I went to college and graduate school in western Massachusetts. I discovered Unitarian Universalism in 1999 and began attending the UU Church in Amherst, Massachusetts. This was during my teaching career and shortly after my two children were born. I moved to Oberlin, Ohio in 2001 and I have been a member of the Oberlin UU Fellowship ever since. I worked at Oberlin College while raising my children in Oberlin. My call to ministry came in 2016 when I decided to switch from a career in education to a career in ministry.

I attended Meadville Lombard Theological School, one of the two Unitarian Universalist seminaries. My studies there included a ministerial internship in Wooster, Ohio; and a unit of hospital chaplain training in Cleveland. I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2019.

I began serving the UU Fellowship of Central Michigan as a contract minister in September 2019. This Fellowship ordained me in July 2020 and called me to be their settled minister in January 2021.

In my free time I love singing, hiking, and jogging. I love the natural places in Michigan, especially the Chippewa River and the shores of Lake Michigan.

Pastoral Care Concerns
For support with life's challenges, please contact Drew by text or email.

For specific needs such as rides to medical appointments or meals for people recovering from illness or surgery, please contact the Caring Committee team via Jen Prout at [email protected] or 989-400-3130. Every effort will be made to lessen the burden on the individual or family who is dealing with a difficult circumstance.
We must knit together in this work as one . . . We must be willing to abridge ourselves of our superfluities, for the supply of other’s necessities... We must delight in each other, make each other’s conditions our own, rejoice together, mourn together, labor and suffer together, always having before our eyes our community as members of the same body.

~ John Winthrop, 1630
