Adult RE Talk - Wednesday, September 8 at 7pm

9/2/2021

What does the Buddhist tradition have to offer UU?

After explaining what Buddhism is, and how he himself can be both a Buddhist and a UU, Guy Newland will explore how traditional Buddhist ideas (karma, rebirth, emptiness, enlightenment) can be understood in the liberal/liberating context of UU. Can non-Buddhist UUs enrich our tradition by adapting Buddhist practices such as mindfulness meditation and lovingkindness meditation? Or is this sheer cultural appropriation?
