Laura Frey

2/21/2016

Laura Frey, UUFCM Member
Why have I made the choice to attend our Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Michigan and Why do I choose to give “in service and in a financial pledge” to our congregation?

I chose this for the spiritual trifecta of you, me, and we.

You: You are unique. Your life history, your present day, and your yet to be determined future life path are unique. Your joys, sorrows, tribulations, and triumphs are unique. UUFCM, our congregation, is welcoming of you and to you and all of your uniqueness (which is consistent with the UUA principles and our UUFCM covenant).

Me: The opportunity to intersect with your lives in the spirit and practice of love, support, and acceptance is a gift to me. This challenges me and empowers me daily to return to others this spirit and practice of love, support, and acceptance in all my life avenues. The UUA principles and our UUFCM covenant provide me with a guiding touchstone.

We: We are a community fueled by love, seeking through our own transformation to transform our community and our world. Together, WE can realize our visions our UUFCM.

You, me, and we, within our Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Michigan. This is a foundation and fulcrum I want in my life - 24/7. Wherever I am, I want the 24/7 spirit and practice of love, support, and acceptance.

The UUA principles support you, me, and we:
  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregation;
  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic within our congregations and in society at large;
  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Our Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Michigan covenant guides you, me, and we: “Granting each other freedom of mind and spirit, we commit to this community of mutual care. In that spirit of caring, we pledge to be mindful when speaking of and to one another. We will walk in the ways of truth and loving-kindness that we and our children may always be fulfilled. So that the world may be fulfilled, we dedicate ourselves to the work of justice and peace, seeking always to soothe sorrow and to inspire joy.”

I choose our Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Michigan. I want our congregation in my life (and its’ spirit and practice, 24/7) and I want this option to be available for you and our community. I chose: you, me, and we.

In order to sustain our congregation with our mission statement that we are fueled by love, transforming our lives, and our world --I pledge during our 2016 stewardship campaign to choose to continue with a service and a financial pledge.

You, me, and we: Let’s continue our spirit and practice of love, support, and acceptance.

Let’s continue to thrive.
