Our monthly gathering to share a meal and have a fun social time together is happening Friday, August 1st at 6:00 p.m., with Norma Bailey hosting. Simply bring a dish to pass and your week-worn weary self to the UUFCM social hall for nourishment and rejuvenation - at least as much as can be gained from sharing a meal, conversation and laughter with friends. We hope you'll join us!
Movie Night is every second Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UU Center. The movie for Saturday, August 9th is “Barbara”. In 1980 East Germany, Barbara, a doctor, is reassigned to a small rural hospital as punishment for trying to find work in the West. Biding time until her lover can help her defect, Barbara begins to suspect that her new boss knows of her plans. An intense drama that asks us to consider moral and practical choices. The German nomination for the 2012 Academy Award; rated 95% by Rotten Tomatoes. Contact Jim Dealing with any questions - [email protected] or (989) 772-0269.
Given the rising popularity of our potluck gatherings, we are organizing our dinners better with PerfectPotluck.com. The potluck organizers are planning theme-based meals this year. There are many to choose from, such as: Mexican, Italian, Finger Food/Fork Free, Breakfast, Kebobs, Spaghetti, Soup & Salad, Subs, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Casserole, Southern Foods, Chili, Vegetarian, Tail Gate, or Wild Game...to name a few.
The potlucks will continue to meet on the first Friday of each month except for January 2, 2015 and July 3, 2015. Your dish should serve 6-10 persons. Laura McBride is kicking off the first themed potluck on Sept. 5th with the theme being Comfort Food Favorites! If you are interested in attending, please go to Perfectpotluck.com and enter coordinator last name: McBride and password: 3619. Conversation and/or games may follow, so bring your favorites of either or both! See you then! Movie Night is every second Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UU Center. The movie originally scheduled for June 14th will be shown this Saturday, July 12th. “Twenty Feet from Stardom” won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. It looks at the world of back-up vocalists and the legends they support. An audience favorite and something light for summer.
