MUUSJN Collection This Sunday
Each year our fellowship takes a plate collection specifically devoted to a donation to MUUSJN to support and sustain its justice activities. We will do that this Sunday, and we ask each of you, to the extent that you can, to donate in our special collection plate for MUUSJN (cash or a check written out to MUUSJN).
Our fellowship is a member of the Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network (MUUSJN), a statewide network of people from 27 Michigan UU congregations and fellowships who work together for justice. The Network promotes legislative change by working in coalitions, organizing action alerts, conferences, e-newsletters, and a dynamic website.
MUUSJN has a solid track record of achievement, mobilizing faith values in the last 12 years to impact public policies through advocacy, education and public witness on many issues: health reform, GLBT rights, immigration reform, poverty/economic justice, reproductive justice, environment, raising the minimum wage, gun violence prevention, and prison reform.
Several of UUFCM's members and friends are also individual members of MUUSJN, and if you are interested in becoming a member, please contact Norma Bailey at 989-560-3952 or atbaile1nj@cmich.edu.
Want to Have a Chair at the Table?
If you missed signing up for a Circle Supper, you will have another chance. All the Circle Suppers in private homes are filled, but there are still some openings at the UU Center on Saturday, April 12 at 6 p.m. and Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m. Childcare will be provided. Please let Gisela Moffit (772-1602 or gbmoffit@gmail.com) know how many adults and children will come and how many children will need child care so that we have enough caretakers. The deadline is April 6.
Circle Suppers are great opportunities to get together with other UUs, eat a delicious meal together and share your ideas about what the fellowship means to you and how we can support it with our donations of time, talent, and money. We are in a process of transition, so it is a perfect time to weigh in with your thoughts and help shape our future direction.
Stewardship Letters
All members and many friends of UUFCM should have gotten a letter from the stewardship committee this week which included information about our stewardship drive, our proposed budget and a pledge card (in green). We hope you read all materials carefully, reflect deeply on what you can contribute to the fellowship and bring your pledge sheet to a circle supper or send it directly to our treasurer, Ricky Courlander (PO Box 41, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48804-0041). Thank you in advance for your generous gifts.
If you did not get one or have questions, please contact Gisela Moffit or any member of the Board:
