“Let the sweet ministry of summer avail.”
~ George William Curtis
Sunday Worship This Sunday, June 1, the sermon is Community and Communion. The service will take place in the pavilion near Timber Town at Island Park, followed by a potluck picnic. Upcoming sermons include: June 8: Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis |
Saturday, May 31: Retreat for Board and Transition Team members
Special Sunday Service
On Sunday, June 1, we will not meet at the UU Center, but plan a “Worship In the Park”. We have rented a pavilion (close to Timber Town in Island Park) and plan to hold a service there followed by a picnic. Water and iced tea will be available, along with juices, ice and extra plasticware. Please bring table settings for your family and a dish to share - and nice weather! Thanks in advance.
First Sunday Food Collection
Although this coming Sunday is the first of the month, we will delay the food collection for one week so as not to complicate the service in the park on June 1. There will be a reminder next week in the eNews and Insert to bring your contribution in for Sunday, June 8 instead.
RE News
Summer is nearing, which means our RE year is winding down. Our kids would love for you to sign up to hang out with them on a Sunday or two this summer. The curriculum is FUN and whatever that means to you! Take them for a walk, to a park, play games, share passions, etc. This is a great time to get to know our young congregants and for them to get to know you! Contact Bill Tinsley to sign up ([email protected] or 989-488-8505).
Movie Night
Movie Night is every second Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UU Center. The movie for Saturday, June 14th, “Twenty Feet from Stardom”, won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. It looks at the world of back-up vocalists and the legends they support. An audience favorite and something light for summer. Contact Jim Dealing with any questions - [email protected] or (989) 772-0269.
Getting Double Emails from UUFCM?
For the past few weeks, there have been some difficulties in which some people were not receiving emails sent from the [email protected] account. In response, Kirsten has been sending a duplicate email from her own email account in the hope that no one would be left out of the loop. If you have been receiving double emails, please reply to this eNews and let her know - it would help her to have a clearer picture of who is affected. She will develop a list of those still not receiving from the UUFCM account, but no longer send duplicates to everyone. Thank you for your help and your patience!
“No summer ever came back, and no two summers ever were alike.
Times change, and people change; and if our hearts do not change as readily,
so much the worse for us.”
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne
