Share Your Wisdom

Please participate in the multigenerational worship service on April 25th by answering the prompt: What is something you have learned in life? The challenge is to keep your response to 25 words or fewer. Of course, this won't be the total of your wisdom or all that you've learned...just one small piece that you're willing to share. Whether profound or lighthearted, all responses are welcome…and, more importantly, needed. The more participants, the better it will be! Please send your contribution to Sally Armstrong by tomorrow - Friday, April 23. Thanks so much!

Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom this Sunday, April 25 to worship together with Rev. Drew Frantz, who—with Jakobe Neal, our Directory of Religious Education—will present “Becoming Wiser.” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“In this multigenerational service, we will hear from congregants young and old responding to the question, “What is something you have learned in your life?” All of us are on a journey of becoming, and we grow wiser along the way.”

Together We Grow – Yes, Indeed!

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, our Stewardship Drive officially ended, and we happily report that it was a great success! We won’t know the final pledge amount until all have sent in their pledges. In the next few weeks, members of the Stewardship Committee (Carol Rard, Gisela Moffit, Jessica Jernigan, Mary Alsager, Guy Newland), will make follow-up calls, and the result will be announced at our Annual Business meeting on May 16.

We want to thank all of you who have given what you can, often increasing your pledge from last year. Your generosity will enable us to grow our fellowship, deepen our spiritual journeys, and strengthen our active participation in social justice issues.

Please Help Us Determine When We Can Meet in Person!

The board of trustees, coronavirus task force, and worship team have been working on plans to re-open Sunday worship services to include in-person participation. When we take this step, we still plan to have the service available on Zoom at the same time. We have a lot of questions about how this will work – will masks be required? will we have singing? will you have to be vaccinated to attend? how many people should we allow in the sanctuary?

Below you will find a link to a 10-question anonymous survey. This is your chance to weigh in with your opinions and, importantly, to tell us how many have been vaccinated. The percentage of congregants who are vaccinated is a key data point in our decision-making. Please submit your responses by Sunday, April 25, so that the task force can have the results for their April 26 meeting.

Please click this link to the survey. Contact Kirsten with technical survey questions and contact Drew with additional comments about re-opening.

Welcome to UU Orientation - April 25

This orientation is geared to newcomers, visitors, and those seeking to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and this UU fellowship. It is offered every month on the last Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Sessions run approximately two hours.
If you are interested in watching an introductory video regarding our faith, please view this YouTube video by Peter Bowden called Unitarian Universalism: You're Uni-What?. For more info or to register for Welcome to UU, contact: Laura McBride: 989.772.5512 Lmcbride010@gmail.com

Scrap Metal Drive - May 14-15

We will have a scrap metal drive on Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, to earn money to support our leadership development fund. We will pick up your scrap metal on Friday, and you can drop it off on Saturday by 11am at 306 W. Grand Avenue in Mt. Pleasant. Contact Laura McBride (989-772-5512 or lmcbride010@gmail.com) for pick up or questions.

Five Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

  • Go for a litter clean up

Collect trash on local trails, in your neighborhood parks, etc. Don’t forget your gloves!
  • Donate old clothing and household items

Donate gently used items instead of throwing them away.
  • Start a garden – big or small

Plant trees, flowers, or plants. Plants reduce pollution by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air.
  • Recycle

Commit to recycling right! Now is the perfect time to learn what you can and can’t recycle in your local community.
  • Spread the word

Hop on your social media platforms to spread the word!

Transgender Rights Workshop

Friday, April 23, 5-7pm PST (8-10pm EST)

Please join Fresno State for Transgender Rights Workshop hosted in collaboration with the Cross Cultural and Gender Center, LGBTQ+ Programs and Services and Trans-E-Motion.
Learn about your rights within housing, employment, healthcare, and more from a group of legal and policy experts. All are welcome to attend and learn! RSVP here.

Evict Enbridge!

Join Oil & Water Don’t Mix in person on May 13 in either Lansing or Mackinaw City to evict Enbridge on behalf of the people of Michigan.

Five months ago, Gov. Whitmer gave Enbridge a deadline to shut down its pipeline. On Thursday, May 13 this foreign oil company will officially be violating Michigan law by continuing to operate the ticking time bomb that they call Line 5.

Please plan to join us from roughly 10am-1pm. More details on the exact location and plans will be shared before the event. We will enforce COVID-safe practices with social distancing and masks required.
