The RE Garden Is Underway!

Our RE Garden is all planted! We expect to have a great crop of potatoes, kale, chives, tomatoes, and beans this year. Thank you to Jessica Jernigan, Jim Dealing, Aaron Jones, Norma Bailey, and Gisela Moffit for their generous seed/plant donations! We would also like to thank Norma Bailey, Daniel Davis, Andrea Devenney, Aaron Jones, and Mairi, Destiny, and Felix for their help in preparing the garden and getting everything planted! We love to see so many people contribute to our garden, and if you are interested in also showing our garden some love over the summer, we are looking for help from families to water/weed on Sundays! If you are not able to access the Google Drive link to the sign-up sheet, you may download this file for the gardening details. Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom this Sunday, May 31 to worship together with our minister Andrew Frantz, who will present “May Nothing Evil Cross This Door.” The Zoom call starts at 10am for social time, and the service starts at 10:30am.

“We are called these days to be vigilant about our personal space: we are careful of the air we breathe; we monitor the things we touch, and whom we let into our private circle. In this way, we are boundary-keepers. This is always true, literally and metaphorically, but it’s true in a new way today. How can we keep good boundaries while being loving, compassionate, and welcoming?”

RE News

The RE Program is providing religious education over Facebook on the group called UUFCM RE Program (Click here to go to the RE Facebook group). Beginning on May 10th, virtual RE lessons will be posted every other week to the Facebook group instead of every week. Our Kids' Coffee Hour will continue to be held every Sunday at 11:45 a.m. over Webex for check-ins, games, and themed activities (Click here on Sundays to join the Kids' Coffee Hour).

UUFCM Women’s Circle - May 28

We provide a safe and supportive place to explore womanhood and women’s history, discuss issues, get to know one another better, and have fun! This month we’ll be exploring body image across the lifespan. We meet on 4th Thursdays for a full meeting and on 2nd Thursdays for a shorter check in, both at 7pm. Join us via Zoom!

Soulful Sundown - Thursday, June 4

Join us on this first Thursday of the month for an uplifting service of songs, drumming, poetry, and reflection, beginning at 7pm. This month’s theme is Compassion. All are welcome: all ages, all genders, colors, beliefs.

Coffee House Open Mic Music & Poetry - June 5

Bring your favorite beverage and join us for a virtual coffee house on the first Friday of the month at 7pm. We will follow an open mic format: anyone can share some music or poetry. Aim for 5 minutes for your song or poem. Signing up ahead of time is encouraged: contact Drew at minister.uufcm.org or 440-935-0129. Get ready for a groovy time!

Recycling Opportunity This Saturday!

Mt. Pleasant is having an electronics recycling opportunity on May 30 from 9am-noon at the fairgrounds. All drop offs must be more of the ‘techy’ nature – TVs, phones, tablets, old computers, etc. Take advantage of the chance to properly dispose of old electronics.

Seminar on Climate Change Lobby

On Sunday, June 7 at 1pm, we will be hosting a short seminar to introduce the Citizens’ Climate Change Lobby. It will be hosted by Marie Koper, the group leader for the Mt. Pleasant chapter. She will be speaking about the organization - what it is, what they do, what their goals and ambitions are, volunteer opportunities, etc. She will also be taking any questions you may have. So, please join us for an informative discussion of a wonderful organization doing positive and powerful things to help better the environment and all its needs.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State Summer Speaker Series

Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU) is launching a Summer Speaker Series each Tuesday in June at 3pm ET. The series will address the history and politics of church-state separation in the United States. See the course schedule and RSVP for any or all of the webinars.

Need for Food!

The Food Pantry of the Community Compassion Network (CCN) continues to provide food here in Mt. Pleasant for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need is great. Donate online to CCN to help them purchase food.

Support the US Postal Service

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic and also without current administration support for the US Postal Service, the USPS is in immediate financial trouble. The USPS is a vital component of American society; people depend upon it for medications, paying bills, etc., and it serves everyone in the country. As well, having a fully functioning postal service will be especially crucial as the need for the ability to vote by mail is increased by the pandemic. Find suggestions about how to support the USPS here.

Moral March on Washington – June 20, 2020

The Mass Poor People’s Assembly and Moral March on Washington will be held on June 20, 2020. Modeled after the Poor People’s Campaign envisioned by Dr. Martin Luther King, and currently led by the Reverend Dr. William Barber and the Reverend Dr. Liz Theoharis, the digital gathering will demand that both major political parties address the interlocking injustices of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism by implementing their Moral Agenda.
