Papa's Pumpkin Patch!

Children and families had boatloads of fun on Sunday while picking pumpkins, visiting the animals, and enjoying donuts and cider on our visit to Papa's Pumpkin Patch! We hope everyone enjoys carving/decorating their picked pumpkins at home!

Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom this Sunday, November 1 to worship together with Rev. Drew Frantz, who will present “Day of the Dead.” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“Many religious and cultural traditions celebrate and honor the dead around November 2nd – for example, Dia de los Muertos in Mexico and All Souls Day in some Christian denominations. We will use this hour of worship to honor and remember those we have lost. We will add a leaf to our congregation’s memorial tree to honor Bob McBride.”

Remember Our
RE Kickoff Puzzle?

Despite being physically distanced from one another, our RE community came together, and this past weekend we collected our final puzzle pieces to create this beautiful display which will be hung in the upstairs RE room at the fellowship. Puzzle pieces were decorated by children ranging from 1 year old to 15 years old. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our puzzle!

Voting Rights News

Last Days to Get Out the Vote!

Contact every family member and friend you have in Michigan who you think might not yet have voted. Remind them of the importance of this election! Remind them of what it took to get the vote, so if they have to stand in line, so be it, however long it takes. As long as they are in line, they get to vote!

Share this chart with them to help them sort out their situation and/or have them pass it on to others. Share with them the websites
michigan.gov/vote and centralvotes.org to find information about voting, as well as vote411.org
for information about candidates.

If every one of us were to contact ten people, think about the impact that would have! Now’s the time; let’s do it!

Tracking Your Ballot

If you mailed in your absentee ballot, be sure to check if it has been received by going to your voter registration page at www.michigan.gov/vote. If there is no indication that it has been received, call your clerk’s office now to determine how you can yet vote in person if necessary. You can find your clerk’s office and phone number, also at www.michigan.gov/vote.

Not Registered, But Want to Vote in the November 3 Election?

You can still register to vote through Election Day! Now through 8 pm on November 3, 2020, you have only one way to register to vote: visit the city or township clerk’s office where you live and provide “proof of residency.”
Documents must have your name and current address. You can show a digital copy of any document. Acceptable documents include:
  • Michigan driver’s license or State ID card
  • Current utility bill
  • Bank statement
  • Paycheck or government check
  • Other government document
After registering, you can vote an absent voter ballot at the clerk’s office or you can vote at your polling place on Election Day.

Locating the Drop Box for Your Absentee Ballot

Find absentee ballot dropboxes in Isabella County. Make sure you deposit your ballot in the dropbox that matches where you are registered to vote.

Early In-Person Absentee Voting

To avoid long lines voting on November 3, early in-person absentee voting is available at your clerk’s office until Monday, November 2, 2020 at 4 p.m. You don’t even have to request an absentee ballot ahead of time. You can go to your clerk’s office, request the absentee ballot application, fill it out, hand it in, receive your absentee ballot, fill it out, and hand it in, thus having voted in the 2020 general election. For your convenience, the City Clerk's office of Mt. Pleasant will also be open for in-person absentee voting on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 8 am-4 pm. Check your clerk’s office for their weekend-ahead-of-November 3 in-person absentee voting hours at www.mi.gov/vote (click on the “My Clerk” tab, and enter your address to find information for your city/township clerk).

Candidate Forums

The League of Women Voters Mt. Pleasant Area hosted and recorded virtual candidate forums for the Mt. Pleasant School Board (on September 16) and for the Mt. Pleasant City Commission (on September 17). Use these links to view each forum.

Environmental Issues

Get Ready to Vote on November 3!

In preparation for the Tuesday, November 3 ballot, Sara Prussing has created a document describing each candidate’s public stance on environmental issues. Information was gathered from candidates’ websites and Vote411.org, and has been approved by the Environmental Issues committee. Please use this and share it with others!

Construction Complete!

The renovation/construction of our front porch is now complete! New decking, new steps, and new safety rails. Drive by some time and admire!

Are You in Need of Assistance?

At this time of social distancing, it is important that we keep in close contact via technology. Please contact Drew for more information. Assistance from this fund is strictly confidential.

For those of you who are shut in and can’t get groceries or your meds, let Gisela know ([email protected]; 989.772.1602). We now have 6 volunteers who are willing to pick up your orders for you. Many thanks in advance to those willing to help out.
