Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead
Upcoming Services
April 30: “Saved by Love” - led by Norma Bailey
This service will give you the opportunity to support MUUSJN, the Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network. Over the past 14 years, MUUSJN has built a statewide network of over 2,400 people from 27 UU congregations and fellowships – and their friends – who work together for justice for all. Our mission is to foster the worth and dignity of people and to create a more just world. Please bring cash or your checkbook; you can either donate to the collection plate for our congregational donation, or you can write a check and become an individual member of MUUSJN (forms will be provided).
May 7: “The Seven Principles: In Word and Song”
Join us for this special worship musical presentation of all the seven principles composed by David Wolfson – the world premiere of the completed collection of compositions!
Proposed Changes to UUFCM Bylaws
Here are the proposed bylaw language changes regarding the endowment fund the congregation supported through a vote last fall. These were handed out at the Fellowship Life meeting last Sunday. Hard copies are available at church and questions can be directed to Scott Daigle (989.506.5750; [email protected]) and Chris Bailey (989.775.8257; [email protected]). You are welcome to share your questions at the Annual Meeting on May 21st following the service.

In order to attend to share your concerns, you have to register via this link. It is a bit fussy to register – several steps – which includes getting a ticket to attend, but be sure to do so as it seems they will be only allowing people with tickets to attend.

Reaffirm Anti-Discrimination Ordinance in Mt. Pleasant - Monday, April 24
Many of you were on the mailing list we used when we were working to pass human rights ordinances in Mt. Pleasant and in Union Township, so we thought you might be interested in and able to support an effort by the Mt. Pleasant City Commission to reaffirm their ordinance, as Union Township did on March 22.
This Monday, April 24, the Mt. Pleasant City Commission will be voting on a resolution to reaffirm their anti-discrimination ordinance, and it would be very helpful if many us could attend in support as we did back in 2012. Their purpose is to reaffirm that, at a time when hate and discrimination are too often being normalized in our world, the community of Mt. Pleasant is a welcoming community, inclusive of all its citizens.
The meeting is at 7:00 p.m., at City Hall on Broadway. We hope to see you there! Please bring your friends too!
Save for Our UUFCM Garage Sale!
As you are doing your spring cleaning, please save anything that we could sell at our UUFCM garage sale on June 15, 16, and 17 at Norma Bailey’s home. This is a big fundraiser for us, so please hold on to any and all items, large and small, that we could sell. At this point, Norma isn’t in a position to store your items, but when she is, it will be announced in the e-News.
If you’ve read this far in the email, it’s likely true that reading our weekly digital missive to the congregation is something you regularly do. You are apparently in the minority. We are trying to improve our readership as this newsletter is a primary way we communicate with the UUFCM community. We’re also trying to get a handle on just how many actually manage to read it each week. Please respond to this message at [email protected] to give us some feedback, suggestions for improvement, or just to let us know you’re reading! Thank you!
