If love does not drive out the fears that so easily divide us, we will never gather
together in coalitions strong enough to challenge those who benefit from injustice.
~ Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II
Mark Your Calendar! May 21 Is a BIG Sunday! Sunday, May 21 is going to be a special day – you won’t want to miss this! Here’s what’s on the schedule:
|
Our worship for April 30 is “Saved by Love,” and will be led by Norma Bailey. Please plan to join us!
This service will give you the opportunity to support MUUSJN, the Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network. Over the past 14 years, MUUSJN has built a statewide network of over 2,400 people from 27 UU congregations and fellowships – and their friends – who work together for justice for all. Our mission is to foster the worth and dignity of people and to create a more just world. Please bring cash or your checkbook; you can either donate to the collection plate for our congregational donation, or you can write a check and become an individual member of MUUSJN (forms will be provided).
Upcoming Services
May 7: “The Seven Principles: In Word and Song”
Join us for this special worship musical presentation of all the seven principles composed by David Wolfson – the world premiere of the completed collection of compositions!
Covenant of UU Pagans Celebrates Beltane - Sunday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m.
Beltane is a time to celebrate fertility and the greening of the earth, to honor the arrival of spring and new life. We invite those of you who are interested in participating in this ritual to bring an item of food or drink to share at the potluck that follows the ceremony. We will gather at 6:30 p.m., and begin our ceremony promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Proposed Changes to UUFCM Bylaws
Here are the proposed bylaw language changes regarding the endowment fund the congregation supported through a vote last fall. These were handed out at the Fellowship Life meeting last Sunday. Hard copies are available at church and questions can be directed to Scott Daigle (989.506.5750; [email protected]) and Chris Bailey (989.775.8257; [email protected]). You are welcome to share your questions at the Annual Meeting on May 21st following the service.
Do You Read the eNews? Clearly, Some of Us Do!
Some of you will be aware that the creators of our weekly eNews publication have been asking the same question for several weeks now – “do you read the eNews?” Our intent was simply to gather information as to our actual readership and hopefully gain some feedback as to what we can do better. We’re always seeking to improve how we manage our communications and hopefully inspire more actual engagement with what we publish. We want to thank those who took the time to respond to our missive and provide us some thoughtful feedback – it was affirming to hear from you and your suggestions have been most helpful.
But we’re not quite done…we’ll give it one more shot this week. If you’d read this far and haven’t yet responded (or wish to add more to a previous response), please reply to this message at [email protected] to give us some feedback, suggestions for improvement, or just to let us know you’re reading! Thank you!
First Friday Potluck - May 5
First Friday potluck is on May 5th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Tom and Gisela Moffit are hosting and the theme is, of course, Cinco de Mayo! Bring any dish that relates to the theme, or just any dish! Or no dish! Just show up, we'll share! If you have some Mexican music, bring it. Anyone wanting to play games (cards, board games, etc...) feel free to bring one. Hope to see you there! We will also be celebrating the May birthdays of: Rose Bentley, Dan O'Berry, Scott Daigle, Cynthia Damer, Susan Powers, Kate Swier, Larry Hall, Stacy Guthrie, and Mary Alsager. Anybody know 'Happy Birthday' in Spanish?

Save for Our UUFCM Garage Sale!
As you are doing your spring cleaning, please save anything that we could sell at our UUFCM garage sale on June 15, 16, and 17 at Norma Bailey’s home. This is a big fundraiser for us, so please hold on to any and all items, large and small, that we could sell. At this point, Norma isn’t in a position to store your items, but when she is, it will be announced in the e-News.
Reproductive Justice Conference - June 3-4, 2017
Save the date! See the flyer for complete information.
Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.
~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Let us be mindful to leave the parking spaces directly across from our Wisconsin entrance open for our friends who have mobility issues. Thank you for your consideration.
