Perhaps we should realize that our need is not to ‘find something to believe’ –
but rather to discover that our lives indicate what we believe right now.
This is the place to start.
~ Edith Hunter, religious educator

Hey! How Do I Become Part of All This Goodness?
If you happen to be wondering how to deepen your involvement with this community of faith, our Pathway to Membership in the UUFCM is a three-step process – an introduction/orientation to Unitarian Universalism* as a faith tradition as well as our particular fellowship history and journey; a session devoted to exploring more deeply the expectations and blessings of membership and participation in “shared ministry”; and finally the “signing of the book” as part of a new member welcome celebration in a worship service. *Even if you have a lot of knowledge about UUism, our first session provides background on the history and culture of this congregation which would be important for an aspiring member.
Welcome to UU
This class is geared to newcomers, visitors, and those seeking to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and this UU fellowship. Welcome to UU classes will be offered every month on the fourth Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Sessions will run approximately ninety minutes. Our next Welcome to UU class is scheduled for Sunday, August 28 at 1:00 p.m.
Path to Membership Workshop

Attention Veggie Lovers
George Lentz has a garden bursting with produce to share. If you have any interest in driving to his farm and bringing some home, please call him at 248-346-4039. His home is located at 5565 Madison Road south of Shepherd and north of Alma. He would appreciate a call so he can show all the areas of his garden that are ready for picking. Currently he has hot peppers, bell peppers, eggplant, squash, and tomatoes. He doesn't want the produce to go to waste, so please call!
Scrap Metal Collection - August 20
We are having a scrap metal collection with proceeds going towards sending two people to leadership training next summer. Look through your garage, basement, yard, and attic for items to donate to this drop off – old appliances, satellite dishes, wire, fencing, etc. A trailer will be available for hauling donations to the salvage yard. Our second and final date for scrap metal delivery to the salvage company will be Saturday, August 20, with smaller items collected from 9-10 a.m., and larger items from 10-noon. If you have questions or items, contact Laura McBride at 989.772.5512 or [email protected]. Any assistance is welcome!
Summer RE News Our RE youth have picked their third produce from the raised gardens – a cucumber, a squash, two batches of green beans and the first of our cherry tomatoes – which have been delivered to the Soup Kitchen. The children have weeded and watered each week to keep the gardens in good shape. Good job, RE youth! |
Religion is our human response to the dual reality of being alive and having to die.
