Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.

This Sunday, please join us for a service titled “Honoring Hiroshima Peace Day,” lead by Norma Bailey.
My heart is moved by all I cannot save. So much has been destroyed. I have to cast my lot unto those,
who, age after age, perversely, with no extraordinary power, reconstitute the world. ~ Adrienne Rich

First Friday Potluck - This Friday!
Join us on Friday, August 5 for our monthly potluck/birthday celebration. Laura McBride will be hosting, with the theme of Summer Fare and Harvest Goodies, for an evening of nourishment, fellowship, and possibly even a game or two. Birthdays to be celebrated this month: Bob McBride, Bob Corbett, Terrie Robbie, Liz Dealing, Bob Clason, Ethan Kolek, and Betty McBride.
While Laura McBride hosting on August 5th, we are still in need of hosts for September 2nd and beyond. If you are willing to host a potluck, please email/phone Chris Bauerle directly at [email protected] or 989-330-8457. If you enjoy the potlucks, please consider hosting - it is fun and easy!
Scrap Metal Collection - This Saturday!
We are having a scrap metal collection with proceeds going towards sending two people to leadership training next summer. Look through your garage, basement, yard, and attic for items to donate to this drop off – old appliances, satellite dishes, wire, fencing, etc. A trailer will be available for hauling donations to the salvage yard. The first collection date is this Saturday, August 6, with smaller items collected from 9-10 a.m., and larger items from 10-noon. The second and final date for scrap metal delivery to the salvage company will be Saturday, August 20th. If you have questions or items, contact Laura McBride at 989.772.5512 or [email protected]. Any assistance is welcome!
Infant Pantry Collection - This Sunday!
The Infant Pantry has a limited time to distribute needed items to a seemingly unlimited number of parents. They can use your help. Bringing diapers, lotions, wipes, etc. will help keep those parents and babies better off. The first Sunday of the month is when we collect our contributions. If you would prefer to provide a donation in cash, please write your checks to CCN (Infant Pantry). All donations will be delivered to the Infant Pantry by Wednesday. For questions or information, call Tom Moffit, 772-1602.
Summer RE News Our RE youth have picked their second produce from the raised gardens – four cucumbers and four squash and three batches of green beans – which have been delivered to the Soup Kitchen. The children have weeded and watered each week to keep the gardens in good shape. Good job, RE youth! |
