Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of
leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials.
~ Lin Yutang
Our proceeds from this year’s UUFCM garage sale totaled $2108.79!!!
A tremendous thanks to all who made our project such a success! Besides all the donations we received, particular thanks go to those who worked to set up/sort/price/clean up and/or staff the sale: Niki Henry (the brains of the organization!), Norma Bailey, Beth Macleod, Liz Dealing, Laura McBride, Jen Prout, Brigitte Bechtold, Gisela Moffit, Tom Moffit, Terry Tribe, Bob Clason, Betty Clason, Mary Alsager, Leslie Hildebrandt, Laura Frey, Ricky Courlander, Lauren McConnell, Carolina Gutierrez, Victoria Sladek, Nancy White, Sandy Wickstrom, Jamie Storey, Stacey Pattison, Joyce Henricks, Annette Pratt, Susan Paton, Sally VanCise, Kris Los, and Chris Bailey.
We will put the money earned toward a new door on the Wisconsin side of the building and/or renovating the front porch of the building which, while sturdy, needs some significant beautifying!
Our worship theme for this Sunday, June 25, is “Everyone Should Be a Feminist” and will feature a message titled “Gender Equality Is Your Issue, Too.” Our service planner for this Sunday is Janis Shin and worship will be led by Ricky Courlander.
“That’s what 21st century feminism is about: the idea that when everybody is equal, we are all more free.”
~ Barack Obama

Forming a Building Team
At the annual meeting on May 20, many suggestions were made for ways to utilize extra monies that were pledged for the 2017-2018 year. While we won’t be spending any money from those pledges at this point, we are forming a building team to prioritize those suggestions. If you are interested in serving on this team (one, maybe two, meetings this fall), please contact Laura McBride (989-772-5512 or [email protected]).
Scrap Metal Drive
The scrap metal drive for the UUFCM leadership training fundraiser is postponed!
It will be rescheduled in July.
RE News
- We need summer volunteers! During the summer months, the RE curriculum does not run like it does during the school year. Instead, our youth tend to a vegetable garden and help provide fresh food for the Isabella Soup kitchen. Volunteers will not be expected to create activities/provide stories (although they are more than welcome to!), they will be prepared ahead of time. If you wish to sign up email Anna at [email protected] or sign up during coffee hour after service.
- We are revamping our nursery! Please contact Anna if you have any new or gently used items you would like to donate.
Environmental Task Force
The Michigan UU Social Justice Network (MUUSJN) is forming an Environmental Task Force to address environmental issues at the local, state and national levels. See this announcement to see how you can get involved.

The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something,
and tell what it saw in a plain way. Hundreds of people can talk for one who can think,
but thousands can think for one who can see.
To see clearly is poetry, prophecy, and religion — all in one.
~ John Ruskin
Let us be mindful to leave the parking spaces directly across from our Wisconsin entrance open
for our friends who have mobility issues. Thank you for your consideration.
