Marching in the Alma Highland Festival Parade - Memorial Day Weekend
We are again going to march in the Alma Highland Festival Parade this Saturday, May 28 (Memorial Day weekend). While the parade starts at 10:30 and is completed by about 11:30, we would need to be there to line up no later than 10:00. Vicki Chessin is organizing us and getting our parade banner ready, so please contact her ([email protected]) or Norma Bailey ([email protected]) to join us. Welcome to UU Class - Sunday, May 29 at 12:00
Our “Welcome to UU” orientation session will be held this Sunday, May 29 at 12:00 p.m. following service. This class is for newcomers to Unitarian Universalism as well as those who have been around for a while who want to learn more about this faith…it is also the first step on the “pathway to membership” in this community. Our minister, Dawn Daniels, will facilitate the class.
First Friday Potluck - June 3
Join us next Friday for our monthly potluck/birthday celebration - Alicia Genia will be hosting. Your dish should serve 6-10 persons. If you plan to attend, please contact Alicia ([email protected] or 989-567-2064) to add your dish to the list. Birthdays to be celebrated in June are Betty Clason, Nancy White, Vicki Chessin, Liz Busch, Dave Macleod and Carol Rard.
We are in need of hosts for one last upcoming potluck: August 5. If you are willing to host a potluck, please use this form to sign up or phone Chris Bauerle directly at 989-330-8457. If you enjoy the potlucks, please consider hosting - it is fun and easy!
Infant Pantry Collection - June 5
Donations for the Infant Pantry are collected on the first Sunday of each month. Most needed items are things for baby care - diapers (especially sizes 5 and 6), creams, shampoos,and lotions. Baby food and formula are not needed a this time. If you want to donate money, then the check should be made out to CCN (Community Compassionate Network) with memo “Infant Pantry.” Please contact Tom Moffit ([email protected] or 772-1602) with any questions.
General Assembly Delegates Needed!
The General Assembly for the Unitarian Universalist Association is June 22-26 in Columbus, Ohio! This is the closest its been in awhile. We need one more person to represent us at Plenary meetings as a delegate. Please contact Annette Pratt for more information ([email protected] or 989-400-0173).
Volunteers Needed for Summer RE
Volunteers are needed for our Religious Education program for our children for this summer. We need one adult for each Sunday this summer (June through August). Each Sunday you will be provided with the opening ritual, story or brief lesson, and then the children will work on a related craft or work in the garden we are planting on the east side of the building. No preparation is needed; everything will be written out and provided for you to simply arrive at 10:00 on Sunday morning to look over the plan. As well, you will have a teen helper. Norma Bailey is coordinating this effort, so please contact her (989-560-3952 or [email protected]) or see her at church on Sunday to sign up.
