Revolution is as unpredictable as an earthquake and as beautiful as spring.
Its coming is always a surprise, but its nature should not be.
~ Rebecca Solnit
Update on Vicki Chessin Vicki is into her second week of treatment at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Her family has created a website that they’ve asked that I share with you all: https://posthope.org/vicki with the password Alma. |
Our worship this Sunday, May 7, will be “The Seven Principles: In Word and Song” – featuring the UU seven principles compositions by David Wolfson. This will be the world premiere of the completed composition series! Please join us for this special worship experience.
May 14: “Merging with the River”
May 21: “Our Sure Blossoming – The Annual Communion of Flowers” plus the UUFCM Annual Meeting and Community Potluck to follow. We will also celebrate a New Member Welcoming during this service!
May 28: “On Mortality…and Memory”
First Friday potluck is on May 5th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Tom and Gisela Moffit are hosting and the theme is, of course, Cinco de Mayo! Bring any dish that relates to the theme, or just any dish! Or no dish! Just show up, we'll share! If you have some Mexican music, bring it. Anyone wanting to play games (cards, board games, etc...) feel free to bring one. Hope to see you there! We will also be celebrating the May birthdays of: Rose Bentley, Dan O'Berry, Scott Daigle, Cynthia Damer, Susan Powers, Kate Swier, Larry Hall, Stacy Guthrie, and Mary Alsager. Anybody know 'Happy Birthday' in Spanish?
Infant Pantry Collection - May 7
Donations for the Infant Pantry are collected on the first Sunday of each month. Most needed items are things for baby care - diapers (especially sizes 5 and 6), creams, shampoos, and lotions. Baby food and formula are not needed a this time. If you want to donate money, then the check should be made out to CCN (Community Compassionate Network) with memo “Infant Pantry.” Please contact Tom Moffit ([email protected] or 772-1602) with any questions.
Marching in the Alma Highland Festival Parade
We are again marching in the Alma Highland Festival Parade on Saturday, May 27 (Memorial Day weekend). While the parade starts at 10:30 and is completed by about 11:30, we would need to be there to line up no later than 10:00 a.m. Our minister (Vicki Chessin’s sub this year) is organizing us and getting our parade banner ready, so please contact her ([email protected]) or Norma Bailey ([email protected]) to join us. We would love to have a large contingent of Mt. Pleasant UUs!

Proposed Changes to UUFCM Bylaws
Here are the proposed bylaw language changes regarding the endowment fund the congregation supported through a vote last fall. These were handed out at the Fellowship Life meeting last Sunday. Hard copies are available at church and questions can be directed to Scott Daigle (989.506.5750; [email protected]) and Chris Bailey (989.775.8257; [email protected]). You are welcome to share your questions at the Annual Meeting on May 21st following the service.
Save for Our UUFCM Garage Sale!
As you are doing your spring cleaning, please save anything that we could sell at our UUFCM garage sale on June 15, 16, and 17 at Norma Bailey’s home. This is a big fundraiser for us, so please hold on to any and all items, large and small, that we could sell. At this point, Norma isn’t in a position to store your items, but when she is, it will be announced in the e-News.
