May we be the church of come as you are but not stay as you have been.

What does it mean to be a people of courage? In worship this Sunday, October 22, Joyce Henricks will examine this question through the lens of friendship with a message titled “Aristotle, Rumi, and Friendship.” Laura McBride – who also planned this service – will serve as worship leader. We hope you will join us!
“It’s easier to have a lot of friendly acquaintances than to have a real friend. It takes a lot of energy – and courage – to have a real friend. You risk a lot to share your feelings with others. Commitment to a friend involves risk. Risk requires courage.” ~ Joyce Henricks
You can read more about our monthly theme as well as explore some supplemental resources here.
And if you happen to miss being in worship on any given Sunday, the texts to previous sermon messages
(and some of the readings as well) can be found in our website sermon archive.

Community Justice Party - This Saturday!
Please plan to attend our second bi-annual Community Justice Party this Saturday, October 21 from 7-9 pm. There will be a program in the sanctuary of music, skits, poetry, and activities highlighting several social justice issues, and then we will meet in the fellowship hall for light refreshments and a rousing cake walk (cake walk tickets 25 cents each, so bring lots of quarters)! The suggested donation for adults is $5.00 (although more will gratefully be accepted for MUUSJN), and children are free.
If you are willing to provide a cake for the cake walk part of the Social Justice Party on Saturday, October 21, Please contact Joyce Henricks (989-400-9743; Joyce.firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have already agreed to do so, thanks!

Save the Date
Our annual congregational retreat will be held on Saturday, January 20. Please be sure to save this date on your calendar for this important UUFCM gathering.
