Marching in the Martin Luther King CommUNITY Peace March and Vigil!

Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom this Sunday, January 23 to worship together with our minister Drew Frantz, along with Jessica Jernigan and Melissa Bailey, who will present “Abortion Rights and UU Principles.” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“Unitarian Universalists embrace the right to have children or not to have children as a human right. This moral stance is rooted in our religious values. The legal right to abortion in the United States, recognized since January 22, 1973, is being curtailed and effectively eliminated in many states today. In this worship service we affirm our moral stance, seek solidarity with one another, and support those whose bodily autonomy is under attack.”

You can read the Minister’s Column at uufcm.org/andrew-frantz.

COVID Update

  • As a cautionary measure in response to the pandemic and the holiday season, the Board has decided that the worship services in January will be virtual-only. The Zoom link is on the calendar.
  • Right now, small groups of up to ten people can meet in person if they wish, or continue meeting on Zoom – or do a mixture. This includes all of our committees and the Board itself. We will do our best to publish how meetings are going to be held, and please check with the leader of each meeting if you're not sure.
While the Board of Trustees has approved policies for Fellowship gatherings as we seek to reconnect in person safely, please be aware that the situation is fluid. We are monitoring the situation frequently, so stay tuned for updates.

Upcoming Events

Most meetings and events are hybrid (in-person/Zoom). Please contact the event or meeting leader if you are not sure. Event and meeting details and links can be found on the UUFCM Calendar.

Team Meetings

Communications Team - Monday, January 24 at 7:30pm

All members and friends are welcome to attend our UUFCM Board meeting as well as the various team meetings that occur monthly. If you are interested in attending any specific team meeting, please contact the team leader for information.

If you are interested in helping any of these teams or committees, please fill out the Volunteer Opportunity Form 2021-2022 if you haven’t already.

Drivers Needed!

As some of our volunteers are spending time out of state right now, we are looking for a few people who would be willing to take our friends and members to doctor appointments. We don't have many requests, but we want to make sure we have several drivers on our list to call. Contact Gisela if you can help. Thank you in advance!

Annual All-Congregational Retreat - This Saturday!

Working Together Against Racism

Our all-congregation retreat is Saturday, January 22, from 9-12 via Zoom. Please plan to attend! In small groups, congregants will be asked to respond to the following:

How can we, as a congregation and as individuals, plan and commit to and carry out activities in resistance to racism?

  • Consider plans that address racism regarding Black/indigenous/latinx/Asian-Pacific Island peoples
  • Think about things we could plan that address issues internal to UUFCM, or at the local, state, or national levels
  • Consider activities involving education, advocacy, or direct action.
Looking forward to seeing you there! Find the link on the UUFCM Calendar.

UUFCM Board of Trustees Open Positions

At our annual meeting in May, we will have elections for four positions on the UUFCM Board of Trustees. These positions are: President-Elect, Treasurer, and two Trustees.

  • One Trustee position has a one-year term.
If you would like the Nominating Committee to consider you as a possible candidate for one of these four positions, or if you have related questions, please contact Norma Bailey ([email protected] or 989.560.3952) or Guy Newland ([email protected] or 989.944.0534) during January.

Deadline for Directory Upcdate - This Sunday!

Did you change your name, postal or email address, phone number, or add a child since last year? We are in the process of updating the Directory and need to hear from you. We want to have the most current entries, so please check the online directory (if you forgot the password, contact Gisela) and send any updates to Gisela or Kirsten at [email protected].
The deadline is Sunday, January 23. Thank you for your assistance!
