Happy Birthday!

In April, we celebrate the birthdays of Sue Martin, Isla Heumann (Jensen), Sally Armstrong, Rick Messick, Chris Bauerle, Deb Allore, Katie Fisher, Eliana Daum, Brigitte Bechtold. For the year to come, we wish them much joy, good health for body and mind, and new (ad)ventures. May it be so.

Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom and in-person this Sunday, April 3 to worship together with Annette Pratt and Joyce Henricks, who will present “Can You Hear Me? Are You Listening?” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“There’s a lot of attention on how we can improve our hearing, but little on how we can improve our listening. Listening is one of the most sincere forms of showing respect to another. What can we do to listen better, especially when we are listening to people who differ from us?”

Minister’s Study Leave

Rev. Drew will be off-duty for a week of study leave, from March 28 through April 4. He will not be available for regular Fellowship business, but can be contacted by phone or text for any emergencies or urgent business.

COVID Update

We have resumed hybrid services (in-person/Zoom). As a reminder, our current policy is that everyone entering the building must be vaccinated and must wear a mask, which applies to children also.
Singing by the congregation and the choir is allowed with masks on.
Anyone vaccinated and wearing a mask may attend services.
Right now, small groups can meet in person if they wish, or continue meeting on Zoom – or do a mixture. This includes all of our committees and the Board itself. We will do our best to publish how meetings are going to be held, and please check with the leader of each meeting if you're not sure.

Please be aware that the situation is fluid. We are monitoring the situation frequently, so stay tuned for updates.

All members and friends are welcome to attend our UUFCM Board meeting as well as the various team meetings that occur monthly. If you are interested in attending any specific team meeting, please contact the team leader for information.

If you are interested in helping any of these teams or committees, please fill out the Volunteer Opportunity Form if you haven’t already.

Infant Pantry Collection - April 3

We collect donations for the Infant Pantry on the first Sunday of each month. You can donate online to the Monthly Donations for Infant Pantry on our website or checks can be sent to our treasurer made out to UUFCM with Infant Pantry in the memo. Questions? Contact Tom Moffit (989-772-1602;

Sunday Strolls in April

April 3 and April 17 - Millpond Park
Meet at noon at the pavilion on 607 S. Adams St.

April 10 and 24 - Deerfield Park
Meet at noon at the first parking lot in the park. If you don't have an Isabella County Park pass there is a $6 fee to get in. Deerfield Park is located on M20 west of Mt. Pleasant.

Promote the Vote 2022 Petitions Available

If you are willing to gather signatures in support of the Promote the Vote 2022 petition drive, please contact Norma Bailey (baile1nj@cmich.edu) for a brief training and get a petition to circulate. Petitions will also be available to sign after each worship service. Let’s all pitch in to support changing Michigan’s constitution to assure safe and secure access to voting for all of our citizens!

Save the Date - Saturday, April 23 from 10-Noon

We are planning a clean-up of the outside of our building on Saturday, April 23, from 10am-noon! Please put this date on your calendar and plan to come to help beautify our church grounds.

Warrior Lawyers Documentary

April 29 from 6:30-8:30

Warrior Lawyers: Defenders of Sacred Justice is a one-hour PBS documentary that is particularly timely and relevant given our country's current reckoning with racial inequity and systemic racism. The program focuses on the stories of Michigan Native American Lawyers, Tribal Judges and their colleagues who work with Native Nations, their citizens and mainstream institutions to achieve Sacred Justice. Come take a journey into past and present day Indian Country to learn of untold stories that shine a light on Native Americans rising up to create a new path for today and for the next Seven Generations. Mass Poor People’s Assembly and Moral March on Washington

The Poor People’s Campaign is sponsoring a Mass Poor People’s Assembly & Moral March on Washington on June 18, 2022 with bus transportation available from various cities in Michigan. Five of us have already signed up to attend, riding on the bus from Lansing. If you are interested, here is the link for further information.
