Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom and in-person this Sunday, May 15 to worship together with our minister Drew Frantz, who will present “Nurturing Beauty in Ourselves and Others” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“Each of us has divine light within, which makes us beautiful. We don’t always see the beauty in ourselves, nor in other people. What is the barrier that prevents you from seeing your true beauty and the beauty in others? How can we remove that barrier?”

COVID Update

  • We have resumed hybrid services (in-person/Zoom). As a reminder, our current policy is that everyone entering the building must be vaccinated (unless exempt) and must wear a mask, which applies to children also.

  • Singing by the congregation and the choir is allowed with masks on.

  • Anyone vaccinated and wearing a mask may attend services.

  • Right now, small groups can meet in person if they wish, or continue meeting on Zoom – or do a mixture. This includes all of our committees and the Board itself. We will do our best to publish how meetings are going to be held, and please check with the leader of each meeting if you're not sure.
Please be aware that the situation is fluid. We are monitoring the situation frequently, so stay tuned for updates.

Promote the Vote 2022 Petitions Available

Petitions are now available! We need people willing to gather signatures in support of the Promote the Vote 2022 petition drive; contact Norma Bailey (baile1nj@cmich.edu) for a brief training, get a petition to circulate, and/or sign up to help at the farmers market. Petitions will also be available to sign after each worship service. Let’s live our values by participating in this most democratic process!

Three Other Petitions to Sign

There are three other petitions that are supported by the Michigan UU Social Justice Network (MUUSJN) that your Social Justice Coordinating Team (SJCT) encourages you to sign when they are available. Each clearly supports our UU values. Download this list which gives information about each petition.

No More Plastic Laundry Detergent Bottles
Every year over 900 million plastic laundry detergent jugs are used. Most are dumped in landfills or in bodies of water.   Marketing ploys produce a product that has too much water and lots of chemicals that are displayed in colored plastic bottles on shelves in the aisles of every grocery store. You don’t need to buy these plastic jugs because there is an option. Learn more about this option that will reduce your use of plastics every time you wash your clothes.
