Beauty in nature right in front of our own building!

Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom and in-person this Sunday, May 22 to worship together with our minister Drew Frantz, who will present “Nurturing Beauty in the Garden.” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“We feel a unique sense of peace in a cultivated space such as a garden. The garden represents the blending of wild natural space and the safety of bounded space. What we find beautiful in the garden, including the harmony of colors, may be tied to an instinctive recognition of what is useful to our survival.”

COVID Update

  • We have resumed hybrid services (in-person/Zoom). As a reminder, our current policy is that everyone entering the building must be vaccinated (unless exempt) and must wear a mask, which applies to children also.

  • Singing by the congregation and the choir is allowed with masks on.

  • Anyone vaccinated and wearing a mask may attend services.

  • Right now, small groups can meet in person if they wish, or continue meeting on Zoom – or do a mixture. This includes all of our committees and the Board itself. We will do our best to publish how meetings are going to be held, and please check with the leader of each meeting if you're not sure.
Please be aware that the situation is fluid. We are monitoring the situation frequently, so stay tuned for updates.

Flower Service - Sunday, June 5

This year we are doing this service outdoors—weather permitting—in the library parking lot facing the youth garden.

Thank you to every member who voted in the balloting after our Annual meeting. All candidates presented were elected, the 2022-2023 budget was passed, and the modifications to the bylaws passed. Congratulations to Cynthia Damer, Terrie Robbie, Victoria Sladek, Debbie Reid, and Penny Swart who will serve on the Board of Trustees starting in July!

Welcome to UU Orientation - This Sunday

*Date change due to the Memorial Day weekend occurring the final weekend of May

This orientation is geared to newcomers, visitors, and those seeking to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and this UU fellowship. It is offered every month both in person in the fellowship hall and via Zoom, typically on the last Sunday at 12:30 pm. Sessions run approximately an hour and a half.

If you are interested in watching an introductory video regarding our faith, please view this YouTube video by Peter Bowden called Unitarian Universalism: You're Uni-What?.

For more info or to register for Welcome to UU, contact: Laura McBride: 989.772.5512 [email protected] Please let Laura know whether you will be attending via Zoom or in-person by the Friday prior to the orientation.

Share Your Soles!

The Social Justice Coordinating Team is sponsoring a campaign to donate soles – tennis shoes, dress shoes, boots, slippers, flip flops, etc. of any kind, any size, any condition – which will be delivered to Clothing, INC monthly until our 20th anniversary celebration. This is a great opportunity for us to support our community as well as conserve Mother Earth as all donations will be either provided free to Clothing, INC guests or be sent to Lansing to be converted into other products – nothing will go to landfills!

Bring your soles to UUFCM any time you are in the building!  There is a Share Your Soles! box in the Fellowship Hall, and monthly we will take them to Clothing, INC and announce the running total in the eNews. The only requirement is that you please either lace the shoes together or rubber band them (rubber bands provided). Click on the flyer for more information.

Sunday Strolls in May

All Sundays in May - Millpond Park
Meet at noon at the pavilion on 607 S. Adams St.

Promote the Vote 2022 Petitions Available

Petitions are now available! We need people willing to gather signatures in support of the Promote the Vote 2022 petition drive; contact Norma Bailey ([email protected]) for a brief training, get a petition to circulate, and/or sign up to help at the farmers market. Petitions will also be available to sign after each worship service. Let’s live our values by participating in this most democratic process!

Three Other Petitions to Sign

There are three other petitions that are supported by the Michigan UU Social Justice Network (MUUSJN) that your Social Justice Coordinating Team (SJCT) encourages you to sign when they are available. Each clearly supports our UU values. Download this list which gives information about each petition.

Mother Earth Love (MEL)

Simple Changes Make a Difference!

Our knowledge, motivation, and new habits we incorporate into our daily lives can help the healing of our Mother Earth. Individual actions we take can collectively make a difference. Please share your stories, comments, and questions.
The complexity of the world and our environment right now with fires, storms, having a very abbreviated springtime – we are all feeling Climate Change – is up close and personal. So one might ask, “How can we make changes in our lives to make a difference?” or “What is one simple change we can make every month?” What are the answers and what are the solutions? Please explore here to find out ideas and draw your own conclusions.
