Happy Birthday!
In March, we celebrate the birthdays of Leslie Hildebrandt, Beth Macleod, Victoria Sladek, Daniel Davis, and Kevin Daum. For the year to come, we wish them much joy, good health for body and mind, and new (ad)ventures. May it be so.

Worship Matters

We will gather online via Zoom and in person this Sunday, March 5 to worship together with our minister Rev. Drew Frantz who will present “Vulnerability.” The Zoom call starts at 10:00 for social time, and the service starts at 10:30.

“Vulnerability is the core, the heart, the center of meaningful human experiences,” says Brene Brown in her book “Daring Greatly.” Vulnerability is a spiritual practice that allows us to open ourselves to more fullness. While it involves the risk of harm, it involves the possibility of joy and fulfillment as well–and the greater risk of harm is when we live lives that are closed and unconnected.”

Ballot Results

Thanks to all of you who voted in our special election for a replacement to fulfill the term for the one-year Trustee position which was vacant on the Board of Trustees. Congratulations to Mary Alsager who was elected and will serve from now through June 30!

First Friday Potluck - March 3

Please join us in the UUFCM Fellowship Hall at 6:30pm (doors open at 6:15) for food, conversation, and games! Coffee, hot tea, and water will be provided. If you are able, please bring a dish to pass.

Building Clean-up - March 4

Please join us for our indoor clean-up at the Fellowship on Saturday, March 4, from 10:00-12:00 as we ready our building for our 20th anniversary celebration. We’ll wash windows and blinds, wipe down walls, wipe down chairs in the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall, and do some touch-up painting. All materials will be provided as well as some tasty snacks!

Infant Pantry Collection - March 5

We collect donations for the Infant Pantry on the first Sunday of each month. You can donate online to the Monthly Donations for Infant Pantry on our website or checks can be sent to our treasurer made out to UUFCM with Infant Pantry in the memo. Questions? Last Two Weeks to Share Your Saved Soles!

Let’s fire up for the last two weeks of our campaign before our anniversary party! Clean out those closets and ask friends and family members to do so too, aiming for a total of 500 pairs by our last day to turn them in – March 14! You can drop your shoes and/or boots off any time you’re in the building, or contact Norma Bailey (baile1nj@cmich.edu) for pickup if needed.

Youth RE Volunteers Needed

With the return of in-person RE classes on Sunday mornings, we are in need of adult volunteers for the rest of the school year. Because we have hired two new childcare workers, we only need one volunteer each Sunday. The youth RE volunteer will either assist Jakobe with the elementary-aged children or Katherine in the nursery, depending on the number of children present. We need to have two adults in each room. Because of the low number of children right now, the volunteer may not be needed and in that case, the volunteer can stay in the service. You don't need to prepare anything, just show up for service and leave with the children. We are asking that you sign up using this Google doc. We need help on the following dates: March 19 and 26, and April 2, 16, 23, and 30. Thank you for your service! Let Cynthia Damer or Jakobe know if you have any questions.

Helpers Needed!

Our UUFCM 20-year anniversary celebration party is taking place on March 18 and we could really use some help. We need people to help set up at 11am, and tear down and clean up afterwards. We could also use some help with appetizer-style foods. Here is what we’re looking for right now as far as food:

Mini quiches
Meatballs
Pigs in a blanket
Veggie trays
Cookies
Bruschetta
Brownies
Or your personal favorite appetizer

Would You Like to Attend General Assembly This Year?

General Assembly, the annual gathering of our Unitarian Universalist faith, this year will be June 21-25 in person in Pittsburgh or virtually. We have some donated leadership funds that can support attendance, so if you are interested in attending as a visitor or as our UUFCM delegate, either in person or virtually, contact Stacey Pattison (staceyp555@gmail.com).

Chalice Jewelry for Sale

Ricky Courlander is selling chalice jewelry to wear for the big 20th bash in March. The cost is $7 for earrings (available as pierced or clip-on), $7.50 for a pendant on a chain, and $4 for the charm only. Style numbers for the different chalice charms are in the photo. COVID Policy and Information

We continue with hybrid services (in-person/Zoom). Our current policy is that everyone entering the building must be vaccinated (unless exempt), which applies to children also. Masks are optional for worship services and small group meetings.
Singing by the congregation and the choir is allowed with masks optional.
Anyone vaccinated may attend services.
Small groups can meet in person if they wish, continue meeting on Zoom – or do a mixture. This includes all of our teams and the Board itself. We will do our best to publish how meetings are going to be held, and please check with the leader of each meeting if you’re not sure.
Indoor eating events are allowed – coffee hour, Friday night potlucks, and our annual Harvest Feast – as long as people are vaccinated.

Please be aware that the situation is fluid. We are monitoring the situation frequently, so stay tuned for update
