Following this event, we are also looking for children and families who would be interested in “adopting a tap” – buckets collecting sap from the church maple tree will need to be checked and swapped out, and Aaron is also willing to lend the materials if families want to tap maple trees in their own backyards to help collect! Please let Kendra know at re.uufcm@gmail.com if you or your child(ren) would be interested in adopting a tap. Depending on how much/how quickly sap is collected, there will be a later event where children will have the opportunity to get involved in the syrup-making process too!"
Families, mark your calendars! On Sunday, February 23rd after service, the RE Program is having a Maple Syrup Event! Aaron Jones has offered to teach the children how to identify a maple tree and tap one for sap using the big maple right outside the church door. To complement the theme of the day, there will be tasty waffles with some of the syrup Aaron collected last year as well.
