We want to thank everyone who donated so generously to the CMU Student Pantry. From our donations we were able to give the pantry a couple of cases of canned goods, and about a dozen bags of non-perishable foods. We had $730 dollars in gift cards, checks and cash donations too. They were shocked and very grateful for our generosity, and they'll be able to help many students because of all of us. |
On Sunday, November 15, we kicked off our congregation's annual celebration of the tradition of Guest at Your Table, a Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) program. We shared a short video of the Stories of Hope from this year’s campaign at the worship service as our Story for All Ages. We ask that you donate either electronically on our website to the Social Justice Fund or by sending a check made out to UUFCM, with UUSC in the memo line, to our treasurer Terrie Robbie, P. O. Box 41, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858-0041. Please donate by November 30.
The ICRH homeless shelter is open and we are scheduled to provide food this coming week of November 22-28. We have participated as a “partner” church since the shelter opened. We provide a main dish, side dishes, salads, soups, desserts, and whatever else people want to provide for dinners. If you can prepare food but are not able to take it to the shelter, we can transport the food for you.
If you are willing and able to help, please contact Joyce Henricks ([email protected]; 989-400-9743) as soon as possible so that she can coordinate the meals! On Sunday, November 15, we will kick off our congregation's annual celebration of the tradition of Guest at Your Table, a Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) program. While we will not be able to do our traditional program and collection at our annual harvest feast, we will share a short video of the Stories of Hope from this year’s campaign at the worship service as our Story for All Ages. We will then ask for your donations either through donating electronically on our website to the Social Justice Fund or by sending a check made out to UUFCM, with UUSC in the memo line, to our treasurer Terrie Robbie, P. O. Box 41, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858-0041. Please donate by November 30.
The UUSC, an associate member of the Unitarian Universalist Association, is a nonsectarian organization that advances human rights and social justice in the United States and around the world. Through a combination of advocacy, education, and partnerships with grassroots organizations, UUSC promotes the rights of workers, advances environmental justice, defends civil liberties, and preserves the rights of people in times of humanitarian crisis. Its vision and mission are guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the seven Unitarian Universalist principles that affirm the worth, dignity, and human rights of every person. By helping to make UUSC's work possible, we are all helping to support the interdependent web of life of which we are all a part and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. |
