Thank you to all who made our Community Justice Party such a great success! Our Social Justice Coordinating Team did a great job planning and preparing it – Norma Bailey, Joyce Henricks, Jen Prout, Janis Shinn and Katie Zapoluch – including our new Can You Guess the Social Activist? competition! So many people participated with their talents – Norma Bailey, Kevin Daum, Irv Irvine, Abi and Mel Bailey, Annette Pratt, Dawn Daniels, Susan Paton, Candi Tomlinson, Stacey Pattison, Cynthia Damer, Elle Daum and friend Maggie, Carolina Gutierrez, Guy Newland, Katie Zapoluch, Victoria Sladek, Laura McBride, and Aaron Jones (for his technical contribution). Thank you to all of you! And the cake walk was raucous and a hit for young and old alike! As well, we have $333.95 to send to MUUSJN as a donation from the attendees and the cake walk! Special thanks to Kris Los for the photos!
This Sunday a special plate collection will be taken to supplement the minister’s discretionary fund. Our minister Dawn is often contacted by people in the community who might need gas money, money to pay an electric bill, a night in a hotel, etc., and she uses her discretionary fund to provide this. While we have a line item in our budget, it does not suffice for the needs like this in the community, which is why we take a special plate collection to supplement the fund. Checks for this fund should be made out to UUFCM with “Discretionary Fund” indicated in the memo line.
