February 14-18 & 21-25, 2021
The Equity Challenge is an interactive digital resource for individuals to take it upon themselves to deepen their understanding of, and willingness to confront, racism. Lifting our voice to take action begins with awareness.
As a participant in the Equity Challenge, you will receive an email prompt on weekdays during February 14-25. These will include a short reading, a video or audio file that challenges you to learn about a new topic, such as personal racial identity, understanding privilege, bias, segregation, and more. Participants are encouraged to take about ten to fifteen minutes each day with the material in the prompt. Interested? Register here.
The Social Justice Coordinating Team is facilitating four workshops to engage members and friends in racial justice work, utilizing the Interfaith Toolkit on Challenging Racism developed by MUUSJN. We will provide these adult RE sessions in the sanctuary on February 4 and 18 and March 4 and 18, 12:00-1:30 each time, and a light lunch will be provided. Our sessions will involve articles, video clips, activities and discussion, with an emphasis on deeper understanding of white privilege and systemic racism. If you didn’t sign up but still plan on attending this Sunday, please contact Norma Bailey (989-560-3952 or email@example.com) so that we can know numbers for the light lunch.
