The Social Justice Coordinating Team will present a one-hour workshop on microaggressions on Sunday, March 21 from noon-1pm. The workshop will examine the tool “Recognizing Microaggressions and the Messages They Send” as well as the “Study of Micro-Aggressions and Other Hostile Encounters Between Tribal Members and Non-Natives in Isabella County.” The workshop will also share ideas about how to counter these micro-aggressions in ourselves and in others. |
The Social Justice Coordinating Team is facilitating four workshops to engage members and friends in racial justice work, utilizing the Interfaith Toolkit on Challenging Racism developed by MUUSJN. We will provide these adult RE sessions in the sanctuary on February 4 and 18 and March 4 and 18, 12:00-1:30 each time, and a light lunch will be provided. Our sessions will involve articles, video clips, activities and discussion, with an emphasis on deeper understanding of white privilege and systemic racism. MUUSJN Interfaith Reproductive Justice Conference
June 3rd and June 4th in Dearborn As the war on women heats up in Washington DC and in Lansing, it’s an important time for UU’s expand their knowledge and skills to resist! The Michigan UU Social Justice Network (MUUSJN) invites you to attend a high quality, affordable conference called “Arm Yourself for the Fight for Reproductive Rights” that will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1- 4:30 p.m. at the UAW Local 600, 10550 Dix Avenue, Dearborn, Michigan. Speakers will provide updates on the future of Roe v. Wade; the Religious Freedom Restoration Act; the Secret History of Catholics, Choice and Sex and an introduction to new Michigan abortion rights legislation. It will include workshops on how to talk with legislators using religious language, on grass roots organizing and using social media.
