January 26: Integrity

Integrity means aligning one’s actions with one’s mission and values. At the personal level, this means consciously speaking, acting, voting, and spending our money in ways that are harmonious with our values. At the congregational level, this means bylaws and budgets and policies aligned with the Fellowship’s mission. How can we achieve greater integrity as individuals and as a congregation?

January 19: Honoring Martin Luther King

In this multigenerational service, we will explore the history of race through a moving story of two young soldiers in the civil war, connecting their story to the story of Dr. King and of Unitarian Universalism. Why are we still a nation defined by racial division? How are we called to act as an anti-racist, anti-oppression, multicultural religious community?

January 12: Politics and Religion

Between the impeachment of the president and public policy issues such as abortion, gun control, health care, and climate change, highly-charged politics surround us. What is the intersection of politics and spirituality? of politics and religion? How does our Unitarian Universalist faith support us in tense times, and how does it call us to act in a democracy?

January 5: Giving Up the Ghost

The theme for January is integrity. Gisela Moffit will present the sermon, “Giving up the Ghost,” by Rev. Gretchen Haley. It focuses on our religious pasts that hover over our lives like ghosts making it difficult to integrate them into our new-found truths and values.

“In our walk together, we can be not just a sanctuary from our past injuries, but a place for healing, and transformation. We can hold one another and bear witness as we re-tell our stories, creating and claiming a positive faith.”
