The Pagan holiday of Yule pre-dates the Christian holiday of Christmas, including traditions such as the burning of the Yule-Log. As practiced by many modern-day Pagans, Yule is a celebration of the winter solstice (December 21, the shortest day of the year). This holiday offers a chance to reflect on the darkness and the gifts it offers, as well as the importance of welcoming in the light.

December 10: Hope for Our Children in a World of Climate Change

All of us are responsible for the children of the community, whether biologically related or not. Therefore we all feel the fear and sadness that comes with knowing that they are inheriting a world of climate disaster (among other calamities.) Despair is possible, but hope must always return. Finding hope by ourselves and in our communities of care is a spiritual practice, as simple as breathing and as profound as trusting the invisible force of life and love within us.
