Please join us this Sunday as we gather for worship with a message from
Dr. Guy Newland titled “Something in the Way.” What does it mean to be a people of balance? This is the guiding question for our worship services for the month of March. Please join us this Sunday as we gather for worship with a message from our minister titled “In Defense of Imbalance.”
“I said that imbalance is dynamic. Balance is also dynamic because it includes imbalance. When riding a bicycle, you have balance because of momentum – but you have momentum because you pedal on one side first and then the other and then back, and so on. You maintain balance through moments of imbalance; otherwise, you are not moving. This sort of imbalance is healthy and productive, if a bit difficult to manage. In this way, imbalance is the threshold from an old balanced center to a new balanced center.” ~ Douglas Taylor What does it mean to be a people of balance? That is the guiding question for our worship services for the month of March. Please join us this Sunday as we gather for worship with a message from our minister titled “Imperfect Being, Seeking Balance.”
“What if the problem is not about being busy and all those balls you’re juggling? Could the balance you seek be about connecting who you are inside with how you use your time outside? Are you sure that you are overwhelmed, or just out of alignment?.” What does it mean to be a people of balance? That is the guiding question for our worship services for the
month of March. Please join us this Sunday as we begin our exploration together with a message from our minister titled “What Holds the Center?” - a look at the challenge of finding the balance between pluralism/diversity and a having a theological center in Unitarian Universalism. Please join us! “Some among us are asking, “Is there a center to Unitarian Universalism?” Or is it like the old story of blind persons describing an elephant, with a twist. Do we have a theological center? And why are we asking about this? When did pluralism become a problem? But there is another reason some are asking about what holds us all together, and if we have a center. They are not troubled by shifts in old structures of power and privilege. Rather, they are alarmed by the increasing fragmentation of life.” ~ Rebecca Parker |
