Many consider him America’s greatest poet. And one might also call him a mystic in his celebration of the open secret of each moment's perfection. Gazing on America, and on humanity, he saw light shining with equal brightness through every ordinary thing, shining in the soul and in the flesh of every ordinary person. Shining through every blade of grass, shining in the faces of felons--and even politicians.
