+ RE Registration “Return to the River” this Sunday, September 18 for our annual multigenerational Water Service/Fall Ingathering celebration! We invite you to bring a small container of water collected from a special place you may have visited during summer travels or perhaps from closer to home. Pouring it into a common vessel, we symbolically share our inner and outer journeys. Our message for the morning will center on the accessibility to clean, safe water as a human right. We hope you will attend this very special service. And don’t worry if you can’t or forget to bring your own bit of water to share – we will have a communal pitcher you can pour from – all can take part. Please join us!
The message for our worship service will be “A People So Bold: 2016 General Assembly Report” presented by our minister and UUFCM delegates. Please see below for another special event taking place during worship this week… We hope you will join us for this service!
“Humanity is our responsibility; human beings are that part of the total universe that we can do something about. Perhaps we cannot make heaven be so, but to our children we can give our love, our care, our respect.” ~ adapted from words by Kenneth Patton This Sunday, we will be focusing in worship on worship…what it means in the 21st century in our Unitarian Universalist construct…and why it matters. The message asks a simple question, “Does Worship Matter?” but will hopefully provoke deep reflection and interaction among us. We hope you will join us for this service!
“With or without speech, prayer is born of breath and bones, and hearts held open to ancient connection.” ~ Karen Hering This Sunday, our minister is back with us to lead worship and present a message titled “Helpful Heresies,” a title borrowed from Michael Durall’s 2009 book, The Almost Church Revitalized: Envisioning the Future of Unitarian Universalism. We hope you will join us!
“We don’t have to be as we are. This is good news indeed. We are not trapped in our histories or our fears. We can set ourselves and our communities on a new course. While this good news is liberating, it is also unnerving, destabilizing, even frightening. But we cannot rely on things always being the way they are.” ~ Stephanie A.
