In western society, we tend to regard thinking and feeling as separate things: thinking in the brain, feeling in the heart or in the gut. And we tend to elevate thinking above feeling as being more trustworthy and legitimate. This is a hallmark of this society dominated by white men. Indigenous wisdom sometimes suggests the opposite: that gut feelings are more trustworthy and important than rational thinking.
