​The annual recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day corresponds this year with the worship theme of Heritage. Our sense of heritage as a people depends on who is included in “us.” Native American heritage is different from European American heritage and from African American heritage. It is an important task for each of us to seek greater understanding of our individual and group heritage, and to honor the unique story of people indigenous to this land.
