Thank you to everyone who participated in the annual meeting and to everyone who voted! Fifty ballots were cast. Some ballots did not include votes on an issue or two; these were counted as abstentions without questioning whether they were oversights or intentional abstentions. Complete tabulated results appear to the right. We worked to resolve problems for a few members who had difficulty voting, mainly due to compatibility issues with the JotForm software. To the best of our knowledge, everyone who sought to vote was ultimately able to cast a ballot in some manner. Let's hope our next round of secret balloting takes place in person, with pencil and paper! By large margins, you approved the budget, candidates, and bylaw revision proposals recommended by the Board. The Board thanks you for this vote of confidence. Congratulations to incoming Board members Stacey, Cynthia, and Jodi! And also, congratulations to Elaine, who is elected to remain for a full term in her role as Secretary to the Board. We rejoice in your willingness to serve! Guy Newland, UUFCM President |
Update of Needs
Please continue to save anything that we could sell at our garage sale on June 10, 11, and 12 at Norma Bailey’s home. We will also include a plant sale during the event, so think about plants you might be able to donate. Right now we are in need of saw horses, large boards, and tables; please contact Norma (989-560-3952 or [email protected]) to set up delivery of these items. Next week, we’ll send out a sign-up sheet for sorting and pricing the items and for staffing the sale, so please keep some time open June 1-12 to help with this; let’s make this a truly all-UUFCM members’ and friends’ effort! Next week we’ll also announce when people can bring items over. Welcome to UU Orientation - Cancelled for May 30The Welcome to UU class is canceled for May 30 and will be available on June 27 at 12:30 pm. Enjoy the long holiday weekend!
This orientation is geared to newcomers, visitors, and those seeking to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and this UU fellowship. It is offered every month on the last Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Sessions run approximately two hours. If you are interested in watching an introductory video regarding our faith, please view this YouTube video by Peter Bowden called Unitarian Universalism: You're Uni-What? For more info or to register for Welcome to UU, contact: Laura McBride: 989.772.5512 [email protected] Our annual business meeting will be May 16, following the service. We will have time to discuss the proposed changes to the bylaws, the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year (starting July 1), and the candidates for the board. Soon after the meeting, members will receive a ballot for voting anonymously on motions from the meeting. Voting will conclude at 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 19.
We will have a scrap metal drive on Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, to earn money to support our leadership development fund. We will pick up your scrap metal on Friday, and you can drop it off on Saturday by 11am at 306 W. Grand Avenue in Mt. Pleasant. Contact Laura McBride (989-772-5512 and [email protected]) for pick up or questions.
