During our multigenerational Harvest Feast service last Sunday, everyone was asked to type what they are thankful for into the chat box. From those words of gratitude came this lovely Word Cloud! The larger the words, the more often they were mentioned in the chat. Thank you to everyone who participated and to Terrie Robbie for this wonderful idea! |
Breaking Bread Virtually
Come break bread to celebrate the Harvest Feast and also help out college students in need. While we can’t be together in person for Harvest Feast this year, we can still keep our tradition alive with a little creativity. To that end, a few of us will be baking harvest muffins to provide to the congregation, allowing us to break bread (or muffins) together at the end of the service on Sunday, November 22. Muffins will be available to pick up Friday, November 20, from 3-6pm, and Saturday, November 21, from 10am-2pm. If these times don't work for you, or if you don’t have transportation, muffin delivery is available. If you require delivery, please contact Kris Los at 989-429-0425. Gluten-free muffins and vegan muffins are available. Please contact Annette Pratt at 989-400-0173 if you are interested in this category of muffin. We are also donating non-perishable goods or cash to the Central Michigan University Student Food Pantry. The fall semester ends before Thanksgiving, but foreign students and other students who will be staying in town could use our assistance. Please drop off donations when you pick up your muffins. Donations for the Student Food Pantry should be in the form of non-perishable goods, cash, or gift cards for Meijer or Walmart. Please note that any food that is dropped off must be labeled and tagged (from a store). Canned goods may be easiest. We would like to give the students something they could use for a Thanksgiving meal, so powdered mashed potatoes, canned yams, canned cranberries, etc., will be most useful. If you are interested in learning more about UU history, our fellowship’s history, meeting new folks, and exploring the first phase of possibly joining this tradition, please join Laura McBride on Sunday, November 22 at 12:30 p.m. Feel free to eat your lunch and plan for one hour of connection, learning, and relaxation. There is no exam or homework. If you are interested in watching a introductory video regarding our faith, please view this YouTube video by Peter Bowden called Unitarian Universalism: You're Uni-What?. If you have specific questions, please contact Laura at [email protected] or call/text 989-772-5512. Join us via Zoom!
Please consider donating to CMU Public Radio by November 30. We pool our donations annually to “buy” some radio air time. Last year we gathered about $1200, which gave us two spots every second week. Write your check to CMU Public Media, and send it to Mary Alsager at 1311 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. If you have questions, please contact Mary via text at 989.330.2226, at her home at 989.773.2595, or [email protected]. Thank you for considering supporting public radio and giving us an advertising voice.
