Thank you to everyone who participated in the annual meeting and to everyone who voted! Fifty ballots were cast. Some ballots did not include votes on an issue or two; these were counted as abstentions without questioning whether they were oversights or intentional abstentions. Complete tabulated results appear to the right. We worked to resolve problems for a few members who had difficulty voting, mainly due to compatibility issues with the JotForm software. To the best of our knowledge, everyone who sought to vote was ultimately able to cast a ballot in some manner. Let's hope our next round of secret balloting takes place in person, with pencil and paper! By large margins, you approved the budget, candidates, and bylaw revision proposals recommended by the Board. The Board thanks you for this vote of confidence. Congratulations to incoming Board members Stacey, Cynthia, and Jodi! And also, congratulations to Elaine, who is elected to remain for a full term in her role as Secretary to the Board. We rejoice in your willingness to serve! Guy Newland, UUFCM President |
Our annual business meeting will be May 16, following the service. We will have time to discuss the proposed changes to the bylaws, the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year (starting July 1), and the candidates for the board. Soon after the meeting, members will receive a ballot for voting anonymously on motions from the meeting. Voting will conclude at 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 19.
At our annual meeting on Sunday, May 13, we thanked retiring trustees of the UU Board (Chris Bailey, Ricky Courlander, Joyce Henricks, Ethan Kolek, and Laura McBride) and elected six new trustees – Carol Rard as president-elect, Terrie Robbie as treasurer, Jen Prout as assistant treasurer, Janis Shinn for a 2-year term, Aaron Jones for a 1-year term, and Carolyn Hancock to fulfill the second year of Joyce Henrick’s 2-year term. We also approved the 2018-2019 budget and recognized the volunteer efforts of so many people who contribute the people-power to keep the church moving forward. Special recognition this year went to Aaron Jones for gracing us with his technological skill which enhances our worship services, Joyce Henricks who has led our Restoration House efforts for the past several years, and Glenn Lewandos who has led our safe church policy development committee regarding fire, tornados and outside assailants.
Please join us for the annual meeting of the UUFCM This Sunday, May 13, at 11:45 a.m. or immediately after the worship service. The agenda for the meeting will include the election of the new trustees for the Board, the vote on the proposed budget, and recognition of volunteers.
The potluck is salads and desserts of all kinds!!! Please bring your favorite hot or cold salads, or a dessert to share! Keep hot dishes wrapped in towels as we have limited outlets, and a small oven. Contact Laura McBride (989.772.5512; [email protected]) if you would like to bring iced tea or lemonade. We will eat immediately following the meeting. Please consider gluten free, vegetarian and vegans, if possible! It will be a celebration!!!
